Guy Dar is a second generation Krav Maga expert under Emi Lichtenfeld, the creator of Krav Maga. He is also the creator of the Self Defense Krav Maga online training course. As chief instructor of Full Contact Krav, Guy started his training in Krav Maga in 1980. He was authorized as a Black Belt and a Krav Maga Instructor in 1989. In this interview we talk about the basic concepts of Krav Maga and how it was developed in an area where there has been constant violence and fighting for centuries. The effectiveness of Krav Maga is being realized in the United States and all around the world even more every day. With all the violence in his area of the world, this art HAS to be efficient and effective and we talk about what makes it such an attractive art to soldiers, women, children and seniors alike. Mr. Dar was personally trained by Eli Avikzar through the last 15 years of Eli’s life in a special class of Eli’s top instructors. Guy became one of the highest ranked students of the late Master Eli Avikzar. Guy Dar is also a highly regarded Certified Martial Arts & Self Defense coach from the world renown Wingate Institute in 1995. In addition, he is a Senior teacher and Expert of Defensive Arts in Israel (Wingate 2003). Mr. Dar is one of the select few individuals in Israel who holds a special title from, Mr. Eli Avikzar and the Zinman college of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the Wingate Institute, of "Senior Teacher and Expert in Defensive Arts in Israel".

Clint Cora is a karate world champion the author of "The Life Champion in You" among many other books. He talks in this interview about his martial arts background and becoming a world champion competitor. But now he uses martial arts as a teaching tool, not in the dojo, but in corporate keynote speeches about becoming a better person. By applying philosophies from the martial arts you can improve many aspects of your life and increase your comfort zone. Clint also has a tragic and impactful personal story that he shares on this show and explains how he has overcome this tragedy and now uses this experience to help others overcome difficulties of their own.

Kancho Deena Naidu was the sixth graduate from the Japan Karate Do College under Gogen Yamaguchi Sensei. His training was hard and unforgiving but coupled with soft lessons of philosophy. Deena talks about his training with this world famous karate master and how he brought those, very Japanese principles across cultures to South Africa and then to Australia.

The ability to "SEE" objects using sound instead of sight. Echolocation is a fundamentally simple skill that many blind people use daily to navigate and understand their environment. This skill is sometimes misunderstood, but it’s far more realistic and much easier than you may think. The author demystifies the growing practice of active echolocation in a way that anyone can understand, and gives the reader simple exercises, examples, and lessons as a starting point for launching you into a successful practice of active echolocation. Sound waves – like ripples in a pond – reflect differently off of all objects and surfaces. This makes it possible for the trained ear to distinguish shape, size, distance and material of our surroundings. Musicians will tell you that “reverb” causes each room or surface to have its own unique sound response. With sensitization and applied practice of this skill, it’s possible for people with visual impairments all over the world to become increasingly independent, supplementing their existing forms of orientation and mobility with the intrinsic awareness that echolocation can provide. Echolocation requires no special equipment nor any special talent. The human body and mind are truly marvels of nature that grant us with capabilities you may never know you had. If you can hear, you can echolocate. Understanding the simplicity of this skill will allow you to shift your way of thinking to accommodate an expanded awareness of your environment. With this awareness comes independence, confidence, new possibilities and new opportunities.

Anyone looking to learn anything will always have challenges.  The process of learning requires an expenditure of energy that you will never get back.  However, you will get something far more valuable for your time and effort after taking on that challenge.  Often times far more than you sought to learn in the first place.

A quick interview with Senior Grandmaster George Pesare to clear up some concerns he felt after listening to a recent episode of this show.

Shodokan Aikido is part of as well as the largest organized branch of Kenji Tomiki's Tomiki Ryu, which, due to regular competitions, also goes by the name "Sport Aikido". It is also often referred to as Tomiki Aikido. However, the only part of the Shodokan system that Tomiki gave is name to is the Taiso exercises. Tomiki Kenji himself did not name Shodokan Aikido as "Tomiki Aikido". Shodokan Aikido focuses on freestyle sparring and balances it with kata or forms such as the Junanahon, Koryu Goshin no Kata, Nage no kata and Goshin Ho.

AJ Perry from Australia speaks of training with Jeff Speakman and his experience with Dan Inosanto. While the price range would be enough for a person to fight and give it his all, one must also consider health risks. Studies show that 30 kick boxers have sustained serious injuries in the past 5 years. Although most injuries are curable, constant injury may lead to permanent and life-changing negative effects. It is important to be careful so as not to receive the same injury multiple times as well as to be able to have a proper sense of judgement on whether to stop or go on.
