Male Yanderes

The story starts out asking various things like asking about the player's favorite food, where they were born etc and even asking about their response to dangerous situations before being invited to the Contain and Cure company. We find out that the MC has been recently hired to an underground facility, with high pay, benefits, inside of a basement with all of the computers having different times. For the time being, they are just an office worker, though that is about to change soon. The MC talks to one of their coworkers, Micheal who gives them the notice that the both of them have been assigned to test subjects. Though the MC can offer Micheal help or just leave him to it. When reading the document on their test subject, Alois, he seems very violent and demanding to know where their lover went, even trying to break out only to fail and be subdued. Alois has a flower growing out from his head along with other plant appendages like thorns and vines. While resting, the MC thinks about the various other subjects, often that were superhuman in some way or were just monstrous looking. Eventually, the MC is escorted to meet Alois who is sitting across from them with a glass. The instruction states that they will meet Alois for an hour to record their reactions, with their first interaction being an introduction. After Alois hears their introduction, they recognize the MC as their lover and tries to ask them how they are doing. The MC doesn't remember anything which makes Alois worry about them. Alois explains that the two of them were loves before and even offers to help restore their memories if they allow them to. From here, the MC can choose to be kind towards him, more cold and methodical or otherwise indifferent. This will lead to different forms as the game goes on. For the sake of this summary, we will go with being warm towards Alois as this is where he gives the most information about his relationship with the MC.

We learn that Alois has been in this facility for a very long time, that Alois was from France but moved to England, that he is transforming into some sort of flower (a white rose, it seems), that they have quite a history with the MC given that they are lovers, Alois reacted poorly when first brought to the facility, he cannot starve, and he used to be a barista during the week. The first interaction ends and the MC is escorted out. Meanwhile, we hear of another interviewer who has been injured with glass stuck in their hands and faces. The guards tell him to calm down, but he continues to complain about how the monster tried to kill him by breaking through the glass, that the monster told him he was their childhood friend and tried to attack them. The interviewer is detained and quarantined before the MC is brought back to their desk to write their report. While writing the report, Micheal comes over to discuss what happened with their subject, though the MC can either explain in detail or be vague. Micheal explains that his subject looked just like him and she described herself as his sister., despite Micheal being an only child. The sister is able to recall various moments in Micheal's life, which leads to him having a theory that the facility is taking their memories as both him and the MC have had missing memories. We see some creature talking about hungry they are before we cut to the next day.

The next day, the MC is brought again to meet Alois in the chambers, to which Alois is happy to see them. This time, the MC has instructions that state that they need to instruct Alois to take various samples from his body and note their reactions. If the MC is friendly towards Alois, the note will also issue a warning stating that they need to be careful s they are displeased with their performance. Either way, the MC starts to ask Alois to take pieces of himself and he even offers to talk about their past together. The MC must instruct Alois to take some blood, a petal from their head, a thorn from their chin and a leaf from their leg. When taking his blood, Alois talks about how the two were stargazing in England and that he likes the moon over the sun. When taking the petal, he talks about how he would bring the MC to his work and walk around looking at plants. When taking a leaf, he talked about how the MC would sometimes go to Alois's workplace and use their laptop to hang out. Finally when taking the thorn, Alois talks about how the MC brought him to the hospital after falling off of his motorcycle. In the process of removing the thorn, he starts to bleed from his chin which the MC reacts to. Alois assures that its okay as the thorn grows back, explaining that he tried to remove them long ago, but that they would always grow back. Alois then talks about how the two would watch movies together, switching between different genres. After this, the MC goes to eat at the cafeteria, eating a bunch of salad. Again they are greeted by Micheal who starts to talk about his sister. He explains that his sister is turning into stars/space and how they had to grab samples from her (similar to how the MC had to with Alois) . The MC can then choose to talk about what happened with Alois. Micheal will comment how they took more things from Alois than Micheal's subject before he leaves. We again see the creature talking about how hungry it is and how they want more.

On the third day, before going to meet Alois, the guards shoot something outside and are covered in blood when they retrieve the workers. When meeting Alois, he notices that the MC is visibly a bit shaken and asks if they are alright. Reading the task today, it states that the MC has to show different images to Alois and record his reactions (they basically looks really badly photoshopped). The MC can actually choose to disregard the instructions and refuse to show them to Alois (but if you do then you will miss the yandere portion of the game, at least for now). The first photo is of the two of them holding hands and walking in the park, which Alois responds to happily. The second shows the two of them married, to which Alois responds to talking about how he loves weddings before asking what the MC would wear if they were wedded. The third picture is where Alois starts to get angry, seeing as its the MC cheating on Alois in the picture. Alois gets angry blaming the facility, declaring that the MC would never do that to him, though he is clearly agitated. The final picture has the two of them divorcing, with Alois still acting very hostile. He states that it seems childish before declaring that he would never let something like that happen before stating that the only thing that matters are the two of them. There is also a chance if you are not as friendly with Alois that he will get jealous of the MC's relationship with Micheal and Eventually, the MC will notice that Alois's eyes have changed color which causes the alarms to go off, before the MC can leave, can tell Alois why the alarms went off. When returning, the MC writes their report and Micheal comes over to talk to them again, to which the MC can tell him everything. Micheal will respond how Alois's actions are very strange before talking about his own experiment, his sister, Claire. Micheal explains something similar, with him reading something to Claire and her getting more and more angry before at the end realizing he was reading from her diary. If you have talked to Micheal every day and are honest about Alois, Micheal will whisper about how in a couple of days, something big will happen, instructing them to retreat into their room when it happens and promising that they will find them. At the end of the day, we will see the monster talk about the color that will be bloomed and how there is still time to change it if need be.

The next day, the MC is initially not called to meet Alois until later, and when they are, they are brought into a different facility where they see Alois. Depending on how you treat him, Alois will look and act differently.

If you are kind and warm to Alois, we will see that Alois has not only grown huge and strong but has two pink flowers and two large vines from his back. Alois will be happy to see the MC and ask if they like his new appearance. The MC can respond in a number of different ways (if you respond not as positively, Alois will slightly recoil a bit). Alois explains that they tried to cuff him but the broke off, causing them to nearly kill Alois. However, he is able to convince them that he will cooperate so as long as he can see the MC. Reading the instructions, the MC sees that they must ask about their new appendages and various changes that Alois has gone through. The MC can ask a multitude of questions, though each time they ask, the lights will flicker and they will hear the sound of someone trying to break in. From this, we learn that Alois has gained better eyesight, including the ability to see in the dark, he can move and feel from his large vines as if they were arms, he seems happier about his appearance, comparing his old self as a "weakling", enjoys spending time with the MC but worries about what this new transformation will mean, and talks about something that he hears in his head telling him to consume. Eventually, the lights will shut off completely, leaving the MC looking at Alois's glowing eyes. The sounds get even louder as the pounding on the door continues. Alois decides to break down the window between them to protect the MC and the MC watches from under the bed Alois fight the monster. Eventually Alois returns victorious with blue blood on his hands, and as the alarms blare, asks the MC if they want to escape. If they do the both of them will ultimately die, with the MC being shot to death and Alois crying after them. Otherwise, if they decline they will list out the reasons to why this is a bad idea (namely that they don't know where to go and that they don't know if they can survive being shot) only to surrender and the MC to get knocked out.

If the MC is is cold towards Alois the entire time, when they meet up with him, he will be very shriveled up, with a blue flower and covering his face. His personality will have changed to be remorseful and ashamed of himself, unable to even show the MC his face at first. He is noticeably a lot sadder and reserved when answering questions. It's noted that he does not talk about the creature he hears inside of his head and feels like he's failed the MC by not being able to help them recover their memories. His vines are very small, and he is only able to twitch them, but before the MC can ask all of the questions, the monster bursts in. Alois is helpless to do anything as the monster attacks the MC and kills them.

Finally if the MC is ambivilant towards Alois, when they meet up with him he will be unnerving, with a yellow flower, jagged vines and more thorns. He also will talk in a pretty distant manner, as the MC describes that it seems like he's talking to himself, and that he seems even more devoted towards the MC. He states that he is able to move his limbs quite easily as if it were always a part of him. When the monster breaks in, Alois will comment on the MC's response (so either fight, flight or freeze). Alois will help fight the creature off and kill it, before ultimately the guards come to subdue them.

At the end of all of that, we will hear the creature at the end of each day speak again, though it is hard to say what it is saying.

Like I said, I have a feeling this is very inspired by SCP stories, and even though I have not really read that many of them, I really like how it is written in this game. Strange facility, strange work and interactions with infected humans is very cool as a concept. I'm a big fan of mysteries in yandere vns (and just in anything, honestly) so the mystery of who Alois is, if the memories he remembers are fake or otherwise artificial, what is going on with Alois that made him this way are all intriguing things that make me want to learn more about what is going on. The unsettling atmosphere of various infected breaking out and killing staff members, the guards killing off various people/staff members for escaping and just the fact that the entire thing is in some underground bunker is super interesting. Micheal is great as a character, not only for the MC to be able to bounce off of but also to sort of show that this interaction with someone that they know (but don't remember) is a facility wide test, and we can compare what the differences are, with Micheal having to deal with his sister, Clara while the MC deals with their lover, Alois. The mystery of what Micheal is planning on doing (if the MC communicates with him) is very cool too and was present in the previous demo as well.

One of the things that I'm biased about but I still really like is the customization. This is beyond just choosing pronouns or choosing specific traits like country or favorite flowers, but also just the fact that the MC can react to different scenarios (flight, freeze or fight) and of course the fact that your actions can dictate what happens to Alois near the end of the demo. I think this should be pretty obvious from my own game that I really love it when your actions have a sizable difference in the gameplay, not just affecting things like endings and certain interactions but feeling like it can physically change the way the other character looks like, since it really feels like your choices have consequences or benefits that you can see outright. I also like that each version of Alois (pink, blue, or yellow) also visibly change his personality and his abilities, since pink Alois seems to be much stronger and more confident with himself, able to control his new appendages and is more willing to protect the MC, whereas conversely, blue Alois is much more ashamed, barely is able to control his appendages and basically is unable to protect the MC at all. Interestingly the yellow Alois feels like the plant is taking over him, as he seems to slowly be losing touch on reality or at least acting very strangely, but seems to have even more control over his vines than pink Alois does (or at least, this is how I view it), with the game stating that it looks like the flower is slowly splitting his head open. This one I associate with being the most yandere, since he has more of a reaction to making the two stay together, and being obsessed over them, compared to the other two which do have a bit of tendencies but are more worried about how he appears to the MC.

It's kind of hard to say whether or not Alois has actually been with the MC or not since it seems that most test subjects "remember" being someone that their chosen staff knows, and the staff themselves cannot remember anything about this other person. It's also noted that for many cases, the subjects do remember specific things from the staff members lives, including things that nobody else knows, at least with how Micheal describes it. Does that mean that the staff members just lost their memories? Are the subjects actually remembering true events, or are they having certain memories injected into them? Or perhaps they could be lying? It is very hard to say given the information that we have. It is possible that Alois and the MC were actually together at some point, but we don't even know how either of them came to the facility in this case. Regardless, it is made very clear that Alois himself believes at the very least that the two of them are together and even offers to help the MC recall said memories, speaking pretty warmly towards them and seeking out their approval to some degree. There's not a lot of yandere moments so far, but the most notable one is the event where Alois is shown various pictures and the reactions that ensue from it. Despite the fact that the pictures are very clearly fake, he does show that he hates the idea of the two of them being apart and grows clearly angry at the staff for even insinuating that the two of them would divorce or that the MC will cheat on him. There's also the fact that he somehow found out that the MC talks to Micheal pretty frequently (if that is the choice that is made) and interrogates their closeness. Then there's the various versions at the end of the demo where Alois changes to different forms. As stated earlier, I believe the yellow Alois is the most yandere like, but part of the reason seems to be he's rather unstable too. Like the MC notes, he acts very strangely, almost talking as if he's not all there, but also has more lines where he is obsessed with the MC or at least believes that the two of them will be together. I think otherwise, pink Alois more focuses on being more overprotective with the MC, but otherwise is rather loving, while blue Alois seems like he'd be more of the gloomy, I'm sorry I can't do anything for you type. All of them are devoted to the MC. I am also curious what the creature is that we hear at the end of each day. It's likely the thing that is causing Alois to become more and more plantlike and is the one dictating a lot of his actions, especially if he becomes yellow Alois.

The game starts out with a fairytale about a myrtle tree that became friends with a bunch of fig trees, alluding to later things in the story. The MC talks about how they have moved to a new city to go to their university, but are missing their adoptive parents and their friends. While the MC is grateful about their adoptive parents, they never knew about their biological one and because of this, felt alone despite having supporting family/friends. After arriving to their apartment and taking a quick nap, their mom calls to ask them how their move was and even requests that they take a picture of the city. The MC takes a nap afterwards and in that dream, the MC manifests a tulpa- a bird named Piko- who speaks to them. Piko explains that she will appear to the MC whenever they need help making an important decision and guide them to the best outcome. Upon going to sleep again, the MC feels a great pressure and has to wake up, though failing to do so leads to a bad ending.

Upon waking up, the MC decides to check their laptop to learn more about the city. They find out that Moongazers, a male idol group, is stationed in this town, a group that the MC is interested in. After deciding whether or not to put on a jacket, the MC goes out and can decide to say hi to their new neighbors. If they do, they will greet Nate and his girlfriend who give them a warm welcome. The MC goes out to town to the bustling city before encountering someone working for the church. The nun speaks about the fact that they're hosting a festival tonight, explaining that it celebrates many lost souls that joined their order and abandoned their wrongdoings. After being drawn in with the enticing offer of food, Piko appears, approving the decision of going into the church as the MC is tied to someone in there with a red string of fate. Once inside, the MC sees some sort of hallucination for a second before sitting down. The MC meets the head priest, Cain there, and speaks to him for a bit, before Cain explains the origins of the festival, Adventus Novae Steallae. He explains that there was a group called the children of Eden, which tragically had an unfortunate accident that lead to the death of many people. Those that survived were taken in by the church, and this event was created to commemorate the event. Cain introduces the MC to Luca, another member, who asks if the MC would like to attend the fest. If the MC attends, they will be seated next to Cain before a short prayer and eating. Not attending this feast will cause the yandere events to happen afterwards if you sleep with any of the other love interests, which we will cover in a bit. After the MC leaves, Cain will get Luca to keep an eye on them, happy that they will be tied by fate again.

As they walk along, Piko will note that there is another person coming by that is tied to the red string of destiny. They overhear some girls whispering about the fact that Aiden is in town currently, before soon bumping into Aiden himself. Aiden whispers that he was trying to buy some stuff at the store before being swarmed by fangirls before the MC offers to bring Aiden to a store nearby to check it out. While the cash register guy recognizes him, he promises to not tell anyone as he doesn't want more commotion to happen in the store. Aiden seems very thankful about this and the MC teases him about his food choices. The two of them see an arcade machine which they can play together. Aiden talks about some things with the MC before paying and heading out. After this, if the MC decides to stay with Aiden, it will initiate a sex scene in the back alley and afterwards, Aiden's other members will come pick Aiden up.

After this, Piko will appear, alerting the MC of another possible candidate for the red string of fate. Very soon after, another man, named Isaiah calls out from the crowd to flirt with the MC and even invites them to stay over at their art shop. Isaiah introduces himself as the town's famous tattoo artist and brings the MC into his shop. Isaiah gives them the pet name of Cielito while the MC questions why they're bumping into so many famous people. Isaiah offers to draw the MC, which they can either accept or decline. Accepting it will have the MC find all of the art supplies before Isaiah starts sketching them and eventually gifting said drawing to them. Another lady called Lily (a famous actress) calls for Isaiah, with him bringing the MC into a room to wait for him. The MC waits in the room for a while until Isaiah comes back. Isaiah states that he got some news about personal matters and the MC tries to console him about it. The two chat for a bit and can be prompted to have sex before leaving his room.

Continuing tradition, Piko will appear again stating there is someone nearby. The MC hears someone in a phone call talking about how their date canceled on them and he will end up getting the MC as a replacement as he drives them to the bar where his friends are. The MC learns that he is Haruto, the heir to a rich family though regardless of if the MC disagrees on going with him or not, Haruto will be able to convince them to go. On the car ride there, the MC asks about Haruto about his love of parties, how he likes long drives and his love of the color purple ( while also flirting with them). Eventually, they arrive at the club, Paradise, where we meet up with his two friends, Aurelia and Kyoko. Kyoko asks Haruto if he is going to see Axel, his best friend, but seemingly the two have had a fight, so Haruto refuses to go see them. After the two girls leave, more people come to hang out with Haruto even gambling and playing blackjack, which Haruto can even ask the MC to play. Nevertheless, the two end up in a private room together, and if the MC wants can watch Haruto do a little strip tease for them. Eventually, the MC asks about what Kyoko and Aurelia were talking about and Haruto explains that him and Axel's relationship fell apart because of a close ones death, and now the two hold grudges against each other as well. When the MC leaves, Haruto gives them his number.

The MC starts feeling tired after meeting all of the guys and wants to go home, but Piko tries to get them to meet the final person. The MC sends up seeing someone who is fussing about their books. They explained that they bought a book from a yard sale and wanted to donate it to the library. Given that they are next in line for being the head librarian, they wanted to make a good impression, however, after lending the book to a couple of friends, the person receives it back with a page torn out. The MC offers to help this person out and they introduce themselves as Axel. The two go to the library where they piece together the torn out page thanks to instructions from a poem. Once complete, Axel explains that the symbol seems to be of a ritual, but doesn't know how the decipher it. Axel mentions that its their birthday and the MC puts two and two together, realizing that this is the Axel Haruto was talking about. Axel gets really aggressive when the MC mentions Haruto though apologizes earnestly afterwards. The MC comforts Axel and in return Axel flirts with the MC before talking about poetry and depending on choice will lead to Axel reading some of their poetry to the MC or simply talking about other things. The two chat until the library closes and can initiate sex or just go home. At the end, the MC returns home and sleeps.

As stated before, the yandere scenes only happen if you deny Cain by skipping the event and instead sleep with one of the other characters, where Cain will interrupt afterwards. For Aiden, Cain will strangle Aiden stating that he should have locked the MC in the church. For Isaiah, the lights will suddenly go off and Isaiah will try to figure out the problem, leaving the MC waiting in his bedroom. After a while, the MC will try to look for him only to find that his neck has been cut and that he's bleeding all over the floor, only to reveal a bloodied Cain. For Haruto, while he is giving his number to the MC, Cain will stab Haruto from behind and trap the MC in the room with him. Finally, with Axel, the two will hear something fall in the library and Axel will go and investigate. The MC eventually tries looking for Axel and finds that they've been killed by a bookshelf falling on top of them.

In addition to the game, there's a section in the extras where you can "search" up various terms that appear in the game, a gatcha system that spits out cute images of the love interests and a place where you can buy items by playing games.

First of all, I have to praise this game for having so much content, even just in the extras. It must have taken a while to code three different games into this visual novel given that most visual novels in renpy don't have mini games like this. I like that all of the scenes with the love interests have at least one interactable element in it, whether it be a game or a simple click to find/piece things together. The aesthetic of the UI is very good as well, reminiscent of a Y2K era with lots of pink and flashy colors. I'm not sure what the significance is since it doesn't seem to match with anything in the game lore wise, but I am biased when games have a specific aesthetic that is shown even in the UI. I also like that the MC has a pretty unique situation of being adopted before moving to the city, likely alluding to the cult and event talked about with Cain. I'm not sure what's going on with Pika and the tuplas, but hopefully it connects to the rest of the story in some way.

It's pretty impressive that there's so many love interests all of which display some yandere tendencies in one way or another, usually by mumbling under their breath. That being said, the way that the MC meets all of them is kinda... uninspired. I mean sure, they have the help of Pika and they're connected all by the line of fate, and its even lampshaded in the game, but it is sort of boring to kind of just meet one of them after another, especially since there's little to no buffer between them. I think the other thing is that the history that is connected to the myrtle tree along with the church itself was something that isn't really mentioned too much in the game besides Cain's section and a bit from Axel's section. In fact, I sort of forgot about that entire mention right after we finished Cain's section, which I don't think is a good thing and I think it should be more prevalent in the story. The other thing I have with this game is that there's a lot of cool aesthetics from y2k but they aren't tied to anything in the game. If the MC themselves was really into the style or the game itself was more surrounding the idea of y2k, it would make sense, but as far as I can tell, it's not so the style is pretty confusing to me. Hopefully in the future, they are able to connect these things together so it makes more sense.

Every love interest in this does display some sort of yandere tendency, though it is mostly under their breath, either talking about how they met the MC before or how they want to keep them for themselves, but ultimately it's very little since the game is trying to establish the characters first before heading to the yandere portion. The only exception to this is Cain who is responsible for all the bad endings in the game so far, though it is pretty blatant considering in every one of those endings he ends up killing a love interest. From what we can tell, Cain is very jealous and has no problem killing even his own brother, and he is not happy when the MC rejects him. I'm not sure why he kinda just lets the MC sleep with everyone if they do go with Cain to the event, but I'm sure that's more of a gameplay quirk and less of a story thing. From what I understand, he's more of the "ring leader" of the other yandere characters, though I don't know what this implies, though the MC seems to somehow center around the tragedy that Cain talks about. I hope that we get to see more yandere stuff in the future.
