That’s the point: when rage roars inside or thoughts burn your mind, the board remains indifferent. It will absorb your fury but never answer. It forces you to think clearly, or else you’ll lose. In chess, you can’t scream, can’t tear the pieces apart; you can only move them patiently until your plan closes in.

This is how you master self-control, how all the noise fades. When you’re calculating moves, anger becomes useless. It only gets in the way.
