The Cat in the Mango Tree
Ravi heard the cries at dawn—a soft, desperate “meow” echoing from the mango tree in his backyard. Looking up, he saw his neighbor’s cat, Misty, trembling on a high branch.
“Great,” he muttered, grabbing a ladder that looked older than his sense of balance. As he climbed, Misty stared down with wide eyes, tail twitching in panic.
“Easy, girl,” Ravi said, reaching out gently. Just then, a mango fell—straight on his head. He yelped, lost his footing, and ended up sitting in a pile of mud while Misty gracefully jumped down, landing safely beside him.
Covered in dirt, Ravi sighed. “You could’ve done that five minutes ago.”
Misty purred, brushing against his leg, as if to say thanks for the moral support. Ravi laughed. Sometimes, heroes don’t save the day—they just end up part of the story.
