YOU think that mermaid show is cringe and corny and just for laughs. I see that it’s a love letter to teenage girls, their feelings, their thoughts, their lives, their losses, ocean conservation, animals being smarter than humans, girlhood, girlfriends, friendship, secrets, shame, broken homes, divorce, anxiety, helplessness, third spaces, bullying, kids being kids, gaslighting, love bombing, the space between being a girl to a teenager to a woman, high school, ‘obviously you’ve never been a 17 year old girl’ AND SO MUCH MORE!!!!

okay i've said before that the mermaid mythology book deserved at least a three episode arc, but i've thought about it and realized just how much i agree with my own statement. each of the three episodes could center around one of the girls, and cleo's episode would be the end of the book's arc. just as "hocus pocus" depicts cleo struggling to accept her mother's absence, each episode would depict a similar internal conflict for each mermaid, with different spells reflecting these conflicts, and ultimately teaching them a lesson which helps resolve their conflict. while the ordeal of casting the spell and dealing with whatever the consequences would help them, the spell itself would backfire, hence further explaining why rikki would be against using the book by "hocus pocus."

@moonlovinliv do you understand that this amazingly correct take has made me physically ill with longing for what we should have had?? I will be thinking about this for eternity. I will be mourning the potential, the possibilities, the correctness of this post. I am sick.

they shoulda kept the trend of emma helping lewis with his experiments. they're the brainy ones, it would've been cool. plus having one of the mermaids actually involved would've been interesting and given us more lewis and emma friendship moments
