Many of the Windows 8.1 users were expecting the release of Update 2 for the operating system. In any case, Microsoft has now confirmed that there will be no Update 2. It was normal that Microsoft would bring in many changes like the inclusion of Start button with the update. Another interesting thing to note here is that the new Windows 10 preview released by the company includes references of the crossed out update for Windows 8.1.

The Windows 10 technical preview was released a couple of weeks back and now, one of the Windows watcher, FaiKee has put a screenshot on his Twitter account about the inclusion of the cancelled update in Windows 10 Technical preview.  

Microsoft released Windows 8.1 in October 2013 in the wake of finding out that its ancestor, Windows 8 was not having a good time in the market, with lot of negative reviews and complaints about the operating system doing the rounds. Windows 8.1 was released to improve the features of Windows 8 and make the operating system more user-friendly. We saw the release of Windows 8.1 Update 1 during the spring of 2014. The main update purchased in a couple of changes like the ability to use the modern user interface using a keyboard and a mouse. There was another update during the month of August. This was a minor update and included only a couple of features. Presently, the company says, "..in spite of bits of gossip and hypothesis, we are not planning to deliver a Windows 8.1 'Update 2."  

The company had prior announced that those users anticipating for a Start menu for Windows 8.1 would not need to be disappointed, as the company plans to release an update that will include a Start menu for the program. Nonetheless, experts now believe that the company has changed its mind and has included this feature in Windows 10 preview, as it will make the new operating system more attractive to the users.

Now, its old news that the most recent version of Microsoft's OS is called Windows 10. For quite a while before that, the Windows new operating system was going to be called Windows 9. The company up and changed that for a more radical name, or maybe simply a shot at adversary Apple's OS X Mavericks – the tenth in that line. In other words, they will make significant contributions to the OS development by helping the Microsoft developers with feedback and suggestions.

Microsoft to Release more OS Builds for Windows 10 in the Coming Months

The user signing up for the Windows Insider programme gets to install the trial version of Windows new operating system. The Technical Preview version is available as a free ISO file download in the Windows Insider website. You need to sign in using your existing Microsoft ID and click on the download link after checking the system requirements.

Microsoft plans to release more OS Builds for Windows 10 Preview in the next few months after making the necessary changes to the OS according to the feedback collected from the users. Already, they have released an OS update, which changed the OS Build number from 9481 to 9879 along with about 7000 changes in the preview OS.

So, if you have not upgraded your Windows new operating system, it is time to do so. Go to the Start Button in Windows 10 and go to PC Settings. There, go to the option Update and Recovery. There, click on the option Preview Builds. Now, click on the button Check Now.

The OS will now link with the Windows Update server online and check for any latest Windows 10 OS Builds available. If there are no new OS Builds available for Windows 10 Preview at the moment, then you will see this information displayed on the screen. If indeed there is a new OS Build available, then you will see a Download button on the screen. Click on this button, to start downloading the latest OS Build for Windows 10 Preview.

Once the OS installation for the new build is done, you will be prompted to restart the system. When you do this, you will notice that the Build number displayed under the Windows Technical Preview label on your desktop screen has been changed to the new number.
