Hot take (?): Kidou's new design is fine, the art style just didn't do it justice. In an attempt to prove my point:

I love real soccer, I go to stadium from 7 years and I definitely can’t tell what’s an anime and what’s real sport, you know? this show, it’s not only about strange powers and kicks, it actually gives lots of feelings to those watching it, like “never surrender” or “try harder and your best”.

the most heartbreaking scene that i always notice when i rewatch is this part especially in episode 2. because haruna/celia was watching kidou/jude leave and look back BUT HE DID NOT LOOK HER WAY AT ALL. HE WAS LOOKING AT ENDOU/MARK

at the start of this scene, people in the bench focused in teikoku/royal so haruna has started watching since the time kidou walked out the school (or even before)

that's when kidou looks back and had a brief speech about endou who was directly opposite where he stands.

the blue circle on the 2nd image is where endou was while haruna is at the red circle

the lingering look she had his way, way longer than aki's/silvia's gaze, probably waiting if he so much as acknowledges her. what if she thinks he doesn't remember her anymore. i know she was waiting for him to look at her just even once. this is heartbreaking.

Kidou and the rest of Teikokku never apologized for beating the shit out of Raimon on episode 1.

Gouenji never explained why he left to his teamates during season 2, even after his sister is safe. Aqua of Gods is never mentionned after season 1 even if Aphrodi comes back to help Raimon DESPITE THE OBVIOUS PARALLEL THAT COULD HAVE BEEN MADE BETWEEN HIS SITUATION AND THE ALIEA KIDS. Fubuki never mention his brother OR his obvious mental breakdown after the final Aliea match. Nobody mentions Aliea to Hiroto, and barely to Midorikawa. Kazemaru and the fallen Raimon teamates became villians for one episode because of the Aliea Stone and IN ADDITION TO THE MATCH BEING ASS, no one mentions it ever again.

But Fudou is an evil mean punk guy and everyone is mad at him for manipulating Genda and Sakuma into injuring themselves for all the first half of the third season.

i for one believe katsuya wants him to be a doctor more because he knows this kid loves saving people (refer to their conversation in katsuya's room about how katsuya uses "saving lives" to convince his son to be a doctor) but it puts him in danger a lot. like literally the only reason he gets an injury once and the reason he gets dragged to okinawa were because of soccer. soccer is a curse to him.

partly, this is to distance him from things that threatens his life all the time. which is always brought by soccer. that's why katsuya never thought soccer can save lives. but when he went to ffi to watch gouenji's supposed last match, he saw that soccer did save one important life, and the one matters to him; his son's.

katsuya mildly aware that his son's hero complex is driven by his passive suicidality watching the japan vs s.korean match: dear god my boy actually wants to live!!! look at him fight so madly in there!!! (-> can't say it like that because he's a repressed fucker)
