Ah, the day was saved. Valko muttered his thanks around the straw that Maia had situated perfectly between his teeth. Maybe having a sister around at a party wasn’t so bad after all. Maybe… Valko quirked up at eyebrow at the mention of the infamous Zyra. He immediately retracted his former thought about things being not so bad. Meeting his sister’s pirate lover was definitely not on his party to do list. He took a long drink.
“Pleasure,” he answered, “Sorry, I’d shake your hand, but…” He raised both of his drinks slightly, and tilted of his head with an expression that was more blank than contrite. Both of his hands were occupied. He took another drink.
“Irony might what we’re going for. I’m not sure. You’d have to ask my… pirate. Are you two… is this a couples costume you’ve got going on?”

Maia shoved Valko lightly at his response to Zyra, she looked at him, raising an eyebrow, “Be nice!” she hissed. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, she might not have been fond of admitting it, but Valko’s approval meant a lot to her.
She couldn’t hide her smile as he asked about their costumes, and she let the grin take over her face, unable to help it. “I suppose you could say that.” She looked over at Zyra, meeting her eyes and taking the pirate’s hand in hers, squeezing it gently. “Anyway, it’s awfully difficult to say no to her when she gets an idea.”
