His blue robe and trademark broom gave him away, though it wasn't his intention to stay hidden. He approached the present guards, not seeming to realize how long he'd lost contact with his old friend. "Ho-Ho, upped the security again? Let me through. I have a cake to bring Julian for all of his birthdays that I've missed."

The guards blinked for a few moments before nodding and triggering the door to open, a certain Magikoopa already being there, rather ecstatic that he was there.
“KAMEK!!!” She cried out, nearly diving at him with how fast she was moving. “I MISSED YOU!!”
“Me?” She seemed confused. “....Fine. Mostly. Bored, I guess. The mun’s been ignoring the mushroom kingdom. Not much has happened, I suppose. Had to oversee some expansion, but that was about as much excitement as I got to have. We’ve been getting more people coming to live here so we’ve started to expand into the entire mountain range.”
It might become an entire nation at this rate....
“So I’ve just been busy with work.”
“Hrrm. I’ve seen quite the few changes since the last time I visited.”
The elder noted with a small laugh. “Well, savor the peace, my dear. You will come to miss it when things ever escalate.”
Kamek paused and raised a hand to his chin, pondering. He knew well to savor a period of peace and quiet, even if most would consider him a grouch for that. Would Magikayla understand?

The guards blinked for a few moments before nodding and triggering the door to open, a certain Magikoopa already being there, rather ecstatic that he was there.
“KAMEK!!!” She cried out, nearly diving at him with how fast she was moving. “I MISSED YOU!!”
Perhaps Kamek hadn’t quite realized how long it’d been. A few years at the very least, even if he’d checked in on occasion.
When he saw the door open he found himself smiling smugly, assuming that he was still on speaking terms despite his... mild negligence. He began walking, only to stop short when he found the doorway occupied by a familiar figure.
Kamek stopped short, but before he could even speak the Magikoopa before him raised her voice and ran for him. In a cowardly act, the wizard squeaked, throwing his hands up to shield himself, seemingly forgetting for a moment that he was, in fact, a wizard. (Then again, security measures were high and his wand likely wouldn’t have threatened anyone.)
”Eek!! -- Er, I mean-- M-Magikayla! What a pleasure!”
His greeting almost sounded insincere with how startled he was, straightening his stance to adjust his glasses, which had nearly slipped. Magikayla... Ahh, how could he forget about her? How terribly embarrassing...
“I KNEW you weren’t dead! I knew the King was just taunting us!” She exclaimed, still hugging him before finally letting go a few moments later. “Come on in! Come on in!” She insisted, motioning for people to get out of the way so he could come into Mt. Rugged proper.
“I do hope you’ve been alright. It’s been very boring around here without you.... I suppose it’s been boring without the plumber either, but I never really care about what he does. And Julian’s had so much stuff going on in his home, so I’ve been running Mt. Rugged for the most part.”
“But you actually caught us on a day he’s here, looking at the results of the research we’re doing. I actually got a new Power Up invented. A hybrid between three normal Power Ups, a Fire Flower, an Ice Flower and a Boomerang Flower. Lets you throw flaming or freezing boomerangs. I was thinking about trying the Hammer Bro suit next... Throw returning hammers.....”
Dead? Goodness, things were tense but it would take a lot to bring Kamek, the great Magikoopa wizard, down. He’d expected Magikayla to remember that. Then again, it had been a little while...
Time to stop lingering about that, though.
‘The King’? Who would that be? The only king that he served was King Bowser. Anyone else’s word was not something he’d even bother to hear out. He scoffed, stepping inside to follow her.
Luckily he didn’t need to ask. Magikayla seemed to want to fill him in on everything that’d happened. To think that the young thing had the guts to run the entire hideout did impress Kamek, though he wouldn’t show that, of course, keeping a straight face as the two of them travelled along.
And she was playing God. How cute. Kamek couldn’t help but doubt her discoveries, then again he’d always been more of a ‘magic’ kind of guy. Science just struck him as dangerous nonsense. One could wonder why.
“Slow down, child.” He finally interrupted, “It’s a pleasure to hear how well Mt. Rugged is doing under your care, but how have you been, my dear?”

It's surely been a while, the elder pondered to himself, wiping beads of sweat from his brow as he approached the present guards. He seemed to be mildly troubled, maybe nervous. "Ahem." The Magikoopa cleared his throat, tucking his hands away into his coat sleeves. "Well, aren't you a hardworking bunch? Could you let me by? Tell your dear leader my visit's long overdue. Kee hee!"
The guards nodded and allowed the Magikoopa inside. Julian was busy raging, Magikayla was trying to get the shipments of the latest Hybrid Powerups to be sent right….
But Julian eventually came to the main chamber. “Who’s here?” He wondered.

Perhaps the poor thing was being hunted down. He’d have to ask Magikayla about this. “Is that so? Well, I’ll have to look into this little problem then. But for now I’d love to catch up with Magikayla as well.” Kamek couldn’t help but appreciate Julian’s hospitality. After everything that had happened he was one of only a few that even tolerated him.

Julian bowed to Kamek and came over to give him a hug. “It has indeed been a long time. Even if you aren’t much help,” He set the Koopa down. “having you here will be a relief. I’m glad you’re alright. And I’m sure Magikayla will be VERY happy seeing you.” She still had a crush on him.
“To what do I owe this visit? Or did you come here just to visit an old friend?”
Kamek tensed up as soon as the other came close. Any sort of intimacy that involved any sort of touch was incredibly uncomfortable. Perhaps it was just some sort of trauma from having to take care of Bowser for so many years. Who knows. However he silently endured it and tried his best to not let his smile falter.
“Ah, I have no real reason other than to see you again, my friend.” the elder chimed. “At least to let you know that I’m not quite dead yet. Kee hee hee!” Kamek cackled, waving his hand in dismissal. “Oh, and I was hoping to see that talented young thing again, too. Has she been well?”
