☀️ How to keep flowers fresh for longer in summer ☀️ Unfortunately, when it comes to cut flowers there isn’t any magical solution to keep them fresh forever. HOW TO WATER SUCCULENTS IN SUMMER 💦☀️ It’s a common misconception that succulents don’t need water or they need very little. They do indeed store water in their chubby leaves and thanks to that they need to be watered less frequently than other plants - but still properly. 💦💦💦 When watering a succulent make sure that the soil is saturated to the deepest roots. Let the water drip out of the pot and empty the excess. 👍 Deep watering will promote healthy root growth, which will result in healthy plant. 👎 Frequent, more superficial watering results in a shallow root system and a less-established plant. ❗️ Drainage is important, succulents don’t like to sit in wet conditions for too long. ❗️ During summer it’s best to water your succulents early in the morning before the temperature rise. If the water heats up too much it could burn your plants. ❗️ During the hot summer months your succulents need more protection from the scorching sun. Their leaves will burn when exposed to too much sun for long periods of time. It would be ideal to move them away from the window for summer. Hope your plants are growing happy and healthy! Crassula is one of those plants which I can’t imagine NOT having in my collection. It doesn’t always love me back. Sometimes I have to trim her down and give her a new start but I always know it’s the same Crassula I have always had 💞 Back in Poland I used to have a gigantic Crassula Ovata tree on my balcony. 3 top tips for less stressful replanting 🌿 It’s finally this time of the year to check which of your houseplants deserves a bigger “home”. I can imagine how daunting the replanting process might seem, mostly for the new plant parents. In the past I used to dread it for the longest time, the mere thought about the whole mess and the time needed was seriously blocking me. But slowly. I’ve found solutions that worked for me and now I’d like to share them with you. 🌿 Not every plant needs replanting. In stead of thinking of your whole houseplant collection, find the individuals that require replanting the most. I’m sure it will be less work than you think! Look for the escaping roots from the bottom of the pot or try to feel the pot (the plastic one, it won’t work if you use terracotta). If it’s very hard it would indicate overgrown roots = time to replant! 🌿 Ensure you have all necessary materials at hand. The more prepared you are the calmer the process will be. This includes larger size plant pots (plastic or terracotta) for all plants you’re planing to replant and enough of right kind of compost (I personally limit myself to universal and cacti compost). You’ll also need a rubbish bag for all of the old soil and a water-filled watering can. 🌿 Protect your hands and your surroundings. I don’t know about you, but I find everything much more pleasant if there is less mess to clean up after. I usually spread old newspapers on the kitchen floor before starting and work by hand while wearing gardening gloves (but any latex or vinyl gloves would work too). It might not stop the compost completely from getting onto the floor, but definitely minimises the damage. I hope that my tips help you to look more positively on the replanting process.
