áąđ© : starring Matthew Sturniolo & Violet Monroe
previous part. masterlist.
Matt woke up with Violet on his mind. Itâd been a month since her birthday and a week since he last hung out with her. He was practically feigning to be around her again but their work schedules kept getting in the way. He was over it. He just wanted to be around the one person who made him feel like a real human. That one person being Violet.Â
Today was one of those days Matt questioned his career choice. If all of this was really worth it or not. And it wasnât that he normally didnât let himself think about it, it was the fact that he never had time to actually think about it.Â
Matt ate breakfast this morning while getting lost in daydreams about his plans with Violet later today. He caught himself more times than not thinking about her in times he should be focused and alert. It was unusual behavior for him, he wasnât used to things like that.Â
He spent time checking emails and messages from his agent. While Matt got dressed he stared at himself in the mirror. He ran his fingers through his hair dreading the work that he needed to do today.Â
On the drive to his set he debated calling Violet. He wanted to hear her voice, know what was going on in her mind. When he got to a stoplight he looked down at his phone debating on pressing the call button.Â
He wondered to himself how feeling this clingy was possible. How finding himself spending every work day he had off with her became a habit. Her eyes flashed in his brain, the eyes he truly felt like he could never get tired of seeing.Â
The sudden noise of a car honking behind him brought him back to reality. He looked up and realized the stoplight had turned green. He set his phone down and continued to try and focus on the drive.Â
When he got on set he was put into a chair where a makeup team made him look more alive with concealer and the hair stylist tamed the mess of hair on his head. He drank sips of black coffee and conversated with the people around him, preparing for the photoshoot he was scheduled to do.Â
The next hour him and the stylist were focused on fittings. It was hard for him to pay attention to anything, so lost in his head. âOkay, weâre ready whenever you areâ the photographer said. Matt smiled and they headed to a designated room that was decorated and designed specifically for these types of photos.
Matt knew what was coming as the model Penelope stepped into the room. He gave her a smile, polite and welcoming. The model studied Mattâs poses, focused and captivated by how effortless his movements were.Â
âAlright letâs switch roomsâ the photographer said. Matt and Penelope walked next to eachother on the way into the room. âYou're really good at thisâ she said. âThank youâ he said with a smile. Penelope and Matt walked into the room and waited for directions.Â
They took picture after picture. Some of the pictures looking like two people in love, others turning out looking like it was taken straight from 50 shades of grey. Matt didnât mind how touchy him and Penelope had to be for some photos, considering heâs done this more times than he could count. But in the back of his head he hated the feeling of someone whoâs not Violet.Â
âOkay everybody, weâre done for todayâ the photographer said. Matt was relieved and ready to leave the set. When he got changed and back into his regular clothes he picked up his phone and checked the time.Â
âHeyâ he heard from behind him. He turned around to be met with Penelope. He smiled, âheyâ he said. âYou're like a natural at thisâ she said. He shook his head, ânot true, just years of experienceâ he responded.Â
âWell iâm new to all this and feel like I could use a better teacher on these kinds of thingsâ she said. Matt chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. âIs there anything you need help with? You teach me a couple things and I could teach you⊠a couple thingsâ she said with sultry lacing her tone, taking a step closer to Matt.Â
Mattâs eyebrows furrowed for a moment, realizing her implications. âUhh- I donât-â he started before she grabbed onto his bicep lightly. He looked down at her hand on his arm, "I'm sorry but I have to goâ he said, stepping away from her. Her face faltered for a moment before she scoffed and walked away.Â
Matt was used to girls throwing themselves at him but Penelope in particular was bold. When girls threw themselves at him he would always take the opportunity to have fun. Well, he used to.Â
Ever since Violet appeared in his life he hasnât been able to even look at another girl without wishing it was her. Heâs not impressed by any of them, not focused on any of them, or even tempted by any of them. He didnât want to dissect what that meant so he shoved it down as far as he could.Â
On the drive to Violetâs he listened to music, nodding his head to the beat of the music. He had a wave of energy hit him, he felt happy. It almost felt like he had withdrawls from being away from Violet. She was addictive. But he didnât mind.Â
The sun was shining, strangers smiled at eachother on the streets, the wind was blowing just right. Nothing could bring him down today. Nothing. There was a feeling of joy that was so overwhelming buried deep in his bones the closer he got to Violetâs house.Â
As he pulled into Violetâs driveway he noticed another vehicle sitting in her driveway. It was an unfamiliar vehicle heâd never seen parked at her house before. But he didnât put too much thought into it. He parked and shut his car engine off, smiling to himself.Â
He walked up to her front door and knocked. After a few seconds of waiting with no response he thought about calling her. He knocked once more before pulling out his phone. Just when he was about to press the call button the door opened.
Mattâs smile faltered, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. âHey, Oliver was just leaving. Come insideâ Violet spoke as Oliver stood next to her with an awkward smile. Matt froze for a moment, confused and caught off guard.Â
âIâll text youâ Oliver said to Violet, slipping past Matt and walking to his car. Matt and Violet stared at eachother in silence for a moment. âWhy do you look like youâve seen a ghost? Come insideâ she said before grabbing onto Mattâs hand and dragging him inside.Â
Matt felt unsettled. Seeing Oliver was something he didnât expect and it threw off his energy completely. The excitement he felt earlier disappeared faster than it arrived. He didnât know what to say or how to navigate what he felt. A devastatingly large pit in his stomach formed.
Oliver was the man Violet was dancing with on her birthday. Flashbacks of the way Oliver grabbed onto Violet on her birthday flooded Mattâs memory. He didnât expect to see him again, especially here, especially now.
Violet let go of Mattâs hand as they sat down on the couch together. âHow did the photoshoot go?â she asked. He stared back at her, noticing how she wasnât addressing the elephant in the room. âUh- it was good, nothing interesting happenedâ he responded.Â
She noticed the weird tension he carried, her eyebrows furrowing. âWhatâs wrong?â she asked. Matt tried his best to mask everything. But she was naturally observant. âNothingâ he said with a smile that wasnât anywhere near convincing.
âYou're lyingâ she said. He scratched the back of his head, âuhh- nothings wrong, the photoshoot was just long and boringâ he said, trying to make himself sound believable. Violet stared at him, observing his energy.Â
Matt and Violet talked some more before coming up with an idea to go out to eat. They chose some place that wasnât popular and crowded, in hopes to stay away from paparazzi and awkward interactions with fans.Â
Matt decided to not ask any questions about Oliver. In hopes she would eventually bring it up on her own time.
On the drive there they had easy conversation with light banter and jokes that were so unfunny that they inevitably became funny. At one point Violet rolled down the windows, letting the wind flow through her hair, letting her hand hang out of the window.Â
Matt felt a strange twist in his heart as he watched her laugh and smile, so much beautiful energy radiating from her soul that it made it hard for him to breathe steady. She turned the music up and sang along to the words, so careless, so alive.Â
He couldnât get enough of her.Â
âCome on sing with meâ she yelled over the music before grabbing his hand and waving it around. He smiled, trying to keep his eyes on the road. She continued to sing the lyrics, still holding onto Mattâs hand.
He was fascinated with how free she seemed. He admired it deeply.Â
When pulling up to the restaurant him and Violet scanned their surroundings before getting out of the vehicle. âI heard they have good bread hereâ Violet said as they walked into the restaurant.Â
The hostess sat them down in a booth and handed them menus. âIâm so hungryâ she spoke. He chuckled, âme tooâ he said. They pondered on what food to get, eventually the both of them settling on pasta.Â
A waitress came over holding a pen and pad, âwhat would you guys like to drink?â she said. âIâll take a lemonadeâ Violet said. âIâll just have a glass of waterâ Matt said, watching the waitress write down their drinks. âIâll be right back with those drinks for you guysâ.Â
âI like the art they have in here, it adds characterâ Violet said. Matt looked around the restaurant, the dim lighting and big chandeliers hanging from the ceiling gave it an atmosphere that felt exclusive, almost slightly intimate.Â
They talked amongst themselves for awhile before the waitress arrived with their drinks. âAre you guys ready to order or do you need some more time?â the waitress asked.Â
âIâll have the lobster ravioliâ Violet said with a polite smile. âIâll have the same as herâ Matt said. The waitress smiled and grabbed their menus, âitâll be out shortlyâ she said. âThank youâ Violet and Matt said in unison.Â
Matt and Violet continued to talk about whatever crossed their minds, getting lost in conversation as usual. Everytime they talked they would bounce off eachothers ideas. The conversation changed topics atleast 20 times in the span of 10 minutes.Â
âI missed youâ Violet said. Mattâs heartbeat skipped a beat. âI missed you moreâ he responded. Violet smiled, âdid you though?â she asked in a playful tone. Matt nodded his head, their eyes locking. âI didâ he said. A sudden tension was starting to brew between the two.Â
âFelt like you forgot about me for a secondâ Violet joked. âI would never forget about youâ he said, nudging her leg with his knee underneath the table. âYou promise?â she said, staring at him with a hesitant expression. He nodded his head, âI promiseâ he said. She nudged his leg back with her knee, a big smile on her face.Â
The waitress brought the plates of food to their table, âenjoyâ she said before walking away. The two of them ate their food, giggling in between bites, laughing at eachothers dumb jokes. They let their legs touch beneath the table, both of them subcounciously needing physical contact.Â
When it was time to pay Matt pulled out his card and handed it to the waitress. âDo you have to go home after this?â Violet asked. He shook his head no ânot unless you want me toâ he said. âNo, I want you to come back to my placeâ she said. He nodded his head, âokayâ he said.
âHereâs your card back for you, will we be seeing you two at happy hour? Since the owner just got married last week he has a deal going on for couples to get 50% off any drinksâ the waitress said. Matt and Violet looked at eachother, an awkward silence took over the table.Â
âOh wow! We just got married last week tooâ Violet suddenly said. The waitress gasped, a big grin appearing on her face. âWe did?â Matt said, caught off guard. Violet grabbed onto his hand, âoh honey donât be so silly, this is my husband⊠Johnâ Violet said, winking at Matt with a smile.Â
âOh my gosh, I just love, loveâ the waitress said. Matt was so caught off guard that all he could do was laugh. âWeâd love to come back for happy hour but weâre actually supposed to board our plane to head back to Italy in a couple hoursâ Violet lied.Â
âItaly! Wowwwâ the waitress dragged out. âWell I wish you guys safe travels, and congratulations, marriage is beautifulâ the waitress cheered. âOf course, have a good dayâ Violet said as Matt and her headed towards the restaurant exit.Â
Once they were outside Matt and Violet spiraled into balls of laughter. They grabbed onto their bellyâs, laughing so hard they could barely breathe. âWhat was that?â Matt asked, trying to catch his breath. Violet shrugged her shoulders, âjust having funâ she said.
They got into Mattâs car and headed back to Violetâs house. The car ride was calm and peaceful, the sun starting to set. Matt focused on the road while Violet stared out the passenger window. The two of them feeling good, grounded, present.Â
Violet turned up the music that was playing in the car. Matt looked over at her, mesmerized by her presence. She turned to look at Matt, locking eyes. âWhat?â she asked. He shrugged his shoulders and smiled, no words, no response. Just a feeling that everything would be okay as long as she was next to him.Â
When they pulled into Violetâs driveway the sun was almost all the way down. âI think that waiter was so cute, she was so happy to hear that we got marriedâ Violet said as they walked in her front door. Matt chuckled, âwe should have invited her to the non existent wedding we hadâ Matt said.Â
They sat down on Violetâs couch after taking their shoes off on the front door. âYou wanna watch the new horror movie that just came out?â Violet asked. âYeah Iâm downâ Matt responded. âOkay good, iâve been wanting to watch it for awhile I just refuse to watch scary movies by myselfâ she said. He chuckled, âthatâs validâ he said.Â
Violet put some popcorn in the microwave and grabbed bottles of water. Matt waited on the couch for her return, turning his phone on silent so that way he had no distractions. When Violet walked back into the living room all he could do was stare at her.
She sat down next to him, âokay apparently there's jumpscares. So be preparedâ she said. He nodded his head. She grabbed onto the remote and scrolled on her t.v. to find the movie. She pressed play and they let the movie begin.Â
Violet placed the popcorn in between them and focused her energy onto the screen. Matt struggled to focus on the movie, glancing at Violet every few minutes. âFuck, iâm calling it right now, the main character is definitely going to dieâ she said. Matt laughed, âI agreeâ he said.Â
The both of them went to grab popcorn from the bowl, their hands meeting, brushing ever so slightly. Mattâs jaw clenched before putting on a smile to hide the feelings that the simple touch gave him. Violetâs eyes lingered a little longer than normal before smiling and popping the popcorn into her mouth.Â
30 minutes of them watching the movie in silence a jumpscare happened and Violetâs body jumped, âoh my godâ she yelled, clutching onto the blanket near her. Matt laughed at her reaction and shook his head. She pulled the blanket over her body, making sure she was fully covered.Â
The popcorn was long gone by now, the bowl sitting empty on the coffee table. âIâm fucking scared as shit right nowâ Violet whispered, looking over at Matt. He smiled, âcome over hereâ he said, opening his arms wide for her.Â
She gave Matt a look of hesitation, almost unsure if she should move or not. âI donât bite, Veeâ he said, causing her to smile. She moved her position, lying down near him, his arms wrapping around her.Â
Matt and Violet continued to watch the scary movie, the both of them trying to focus on the screen rather than the closeness of their bodies. Matt spooned her, his arm wrapped around her waist. âThis movie is fucked upâ Violet said, grabbing onto Mattâs hand. âI agreeâ he said.Â
Violet played with his hand almost in an absentminded way, not exactly intentional, just loving the way his hand was there. As she fidgeted with his hand Matt noticed, but he didnât mind. Although for something so small and simple it felt incredibly intimate.Â
They let the movie continue to play and by the time it was over Violet wasnât even watching it anymore. She had already turned over to face Matt, her legs over his while snuggled into his chest. He had been running his hand through her hair for awhile, letting her fade into a sound sleep.Â
He didnât know if he should move or not. He didnât want to wake her but he also didnât know what the plan was. As in if she wanted him to stay the night or not. He contemplated for awhile as he continued to run his fingers through her hair.
Violets phone that sat on the coffee table started to ring. Her body started to move, stretching and shifting. âVeeâ he whispered, trying to wake her. âHuhhâ she let out, half asleep still. âYour phone is ringingâ he said. She opened her eyes, squinting a bit as she adjusted to the light.Â
She moved her position and looked around for a moment before reaching over to the coffee table and grabbing her phone. She took one look at the caller ID before declining the call and setting her phone back down. âIâm sorry I donât even remember falling asleepâ she said. Matt smiled âitâs okayâ he said.Â
Violet yawned, âcan you spend the night?â she asked. âMhmâ he hummed. Violet grabbed onto the t.v remote and pressed the off button before standing up.Â
âCome with meâ she said, walking towards her bedroom. And so he did, he followed behind her into her bedroom. She turned on a lamp and started searching through her dresser for clothes to change into.Â
She handed Matt a pair of sweatpants that she stole from her dad a couple years ago. âI donât have a shirt that will fit youâ she said. Matt shrugged his shoulders âitâs okayâ. Violet walked over to the master bathroom, âyou can sleep sleep shirtless, I wonât mindâ she said before closing the bathroom door.Â
Matt took his shirt off and changed into the sweatpants she had given him. When she walked back in to her room all she could do was stay frozen and stare. âWhat?â he said. âNothingâ she smiled before getting onto her bed and underneath the blankets.
The two of them laid in Violetâs bed now, 2 am approaching. They faced eachother, talking about whatever nonsense their sleep deprived brains could muster up. âYou have so many tattoosâ Violet said. Matt nodded his head as he watched Violetâs hand reach out to his arm.Â
âWhat is this one for?â she asked, letting her fingers trace over the ink. âItâs for my momâ he responded. Violet looked up at him for a moment, âare you close with your mom?â she asked. âYeah, Iâd do anything for herâ Matt said.Â
âWhat is your mom like?â she asked. âSheâs generous and caring. Always making people smile, always offering some form of support to peopleâ he said, thinking back to all the memories in Boston. Violet smiled, loving the way Mattâs eyes lit up when talking about his mother.Â
âAnd your dad?â she asked. âMy dad is the greatest. Super chill, super annoying but very understanding and kindâ he said. Violet asked more questions about his family, curious and wanting to know more. Wanting to know more beyond surface level.Â
Matt talked about what it was like growing up in Boston. The differences between the east coast and west coast. The memories that were hard to forget and the people that would forever hold a special place in his heart.Â
Matt started to ask Violet questions, wanting to know more about what it was like for her growing up. Craving more depth. They took turns asking questions, delving deeper into their backgrounds, the struggles they faced and how they ended up here.Â
The topic changes numerous times, losing track of time, so focused on one another. âI miss Trevor though, heâs my best friend" Matt said. Violet gasped with fake offense, âwowâ she said. Matt chuckled, âyouâre my best friend tooâ he said.
Violetâs lips formed into a pout, âso is that what you are to me? Just a best friend? I thought we were partners in crime, ride or diesâ Violet joked. Matt looked at her, really looked at her.
He could see through any mask she tried wearing, he could see through the party girl act. He noticed she played with her earrings anytime she was nervous or anxious. He could tell when her smile wasnât real, almost like it was rehearsed. He could tell the difference between her fake vs. genuine laugh.Â
He noticed her attempts to hide behind humor. He noticed the patterns of self doubt, the way she picked at her nails when she was in deep thought. He could see her, really see her. And he admired every part.Â
Relationships werenât his thing. At all. But heâd be lying if he said he didnât want something more with Violet. There was something about her that was so special, so real. Kissing people was against his own rules but god, her lips looked so good right now.
âIâll be anything you want me to beâ he said. The words slipped out without thinking. But Matt still meant exactly what he said. Their eyes locked, a moment of silence passed. Violet had a skeptical smile on her face. âYou will?â she asked. Matt nodded his head slowly but surely.Â
Violet went quiet, that face she gets when sheâs thinking deeply appeared. âWe should sleep, itâs getting lateâ she said. He nodded his head in agreement as she turned the lamp off.Â
They laid there in the dark, a safe enough distance between their bodies. But the distance didnât last long before Matt grabbed onto Violet and pulled her into him. He spooned her, cautious about where his hands were placed.
A long period of silence passed.
âMattâ Violet said. âHmm?â he hummed. There was a slight hesitation before she responded. âWould it be a bad thing if I wanted you all to myself?â she asked, her voice soft and quiet. Matt took a deep breath, ânoâ he spoke. His hand moved from her stomach to her waist, eventually landing on her hip.
âWhat kind of woman would I be if I went on a date with someone to distract myself from who I really wantedâ she whispered. âWhat are you talking about Vee?â he asked, confused. âOliver. He wants to take me on a dateâ she said. Mattâs heart skipped a beat, a pit forming in his stomach.Â
âAre you gonna go?â was all Matt managed to say. âYou didnât answer my questionâ she said. âYou didnât answer mine eitherâ he responded. The energy in the room was charged, practically explosive. The both of them tip toeing around something that was so obvious.Â
âDo you think I should go Matt?â she asked. âDo you want to go Vee?â he asked. She backed her body further into him, her ass now firmly placed against his crotch. His hand gripped onto her hip, temptation crossing his mind. He couldnât help but want more. More touch, more time, more her.Â
âOliver is good to me. Giving him a chance wouldnât hurt I guessâ she said. Mattâs jaw clenched, his hand tightening the grip he had on her hip. The way her body fit so perfectly against his was driving him insane. He tried to keep his composure but his cock was getting harder and harder by the second.Â
âDonât goâ he said quietly. âWhat?â Violet said. âYou heard me Vee, donât goâ he whispered before lightly pressing into her further, his hard member rubbing against her ass. Her breath hitched, goosebumps appeared all over her skin.
âWhy?â she whispered, faking her ability to not put two and two together. His hand moved from her hip back to her stomach. âBecause Iâm selfishâ he responded. He said so much while simultaneously saying barely anything at all. Her hand grabbed onto his, holding it ever so gently.
âGoodnight Mattâ she said.Â
âGoodnight Veeâ he said.Â
