A man to whom she had spoken things that had never been said out loud. Things that had remained buried under layers of tears and blood and the dust of time. Things that Aeliana now regretted ever uttering, but especially to HIM.

Especially now.

Aeliana would not turn away from Neil this time. She would not run as she had that night in the woods when she had almost made the FOOLISH mistake of telling him something she would have regretted more than any of the painful memories she had ripped from her chest for him. Instead, she watched. Watched him remove himself from her life, as everyone else had done time and again.
