MORE WITCHY WITCH GAME THINGS BECAUSE I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT !!
the game starts when you run away from home, the reason is up to you, but one day instead of going home you just keep walking and walking, further and further away, into the forest outside of town. you start running, it doesn't matter where you are heading, just going further.
until suddenly you hear a loud thunder and it starts pouring. you find yourself lost in the woods in the middle of a storm.
as you walk in the forest, you stumble upon an rundown looking hut. seems like nobody was there for years.
inside you find a small room with a large cauldron in the center. interacting with it will awaken the spirit of the old witch who used to live in the hut. she appears in the cloud of smoke above the cauldron, and isn't happy to be disturbed.
unfortunately to both of you, the witch realizes she's stuck as a spirit. she can't disappear, she still feels the essence of the hut. she's "awake". and she can't use magic as a ghost.
She needs someone to perform exorcism and banish her, so she can go back to being peacefully dead. reluctantly, the witch figures you are her best option. anything but calling a priest.
it may take you months or even years to be able to perform such spell, but it's nothing compared to an eternity as a ghost. not to mention it serves as great punishment for you for waking her up.
and don't even think about running away, the last thing you need is a vengeful witch-ghost haunting you for the rest of your life.
so congratulations! you are now the witch's understudy. she'll teach you how to cast spells and forage for ingredients.
each day you get to go into the forest looking for more spell ingredients (herbs, flowers, mushrooms). the stuff you find spawns randomly every day based on the time of year and the weather. at the end of each day you go back home and can make spells with the ingredients you found.
I want the spell system to be quite rich. my goal is that you can actually learn the system with time and improvise and not just relay on the spell book.
each ingredient will belong to a category based on the plant part it is (leaf, fruit, flower, root). each category will determine a part of the spell. leafs will set the duration, roots will determine the target, etc.
spells should be used for basically everything, you should be able to make items, clothes, change size/color for stuff, increase your stats (speed, energy, strength), etc. some spells will be needed to solve puzzles in order to progress deeper into the forest. and you'll run into NPCs that will be looking for certain spells for their own issues. like one NPC may want a love spell, another might want to be taller.
I'm currently at the stage of having ideas for things i will need ideas for. I am excited, but also very intimidated.
I hope i will get to make it one day
