You'll doubtless want to turn this off in your Instagram...
Vie the NYT:
When Meta unveiled an artificial intelligence image generator called Muse Image on Tuesday, it came with a feature that let users create A.I. images based on people’s Instagram photos. Any adult with a public Instagram account was automatically opted in. Using the Meta AI app, the company’s stand-alone chatbot, other users could pull from “part or all of your published photos” to create new A.I. images, the company wrote in a blog post. “In addition, people may be able to create content with your Instagram content using A.I. features at Meta,” the company added. Here’s how it works: On the Meta AI app, a user can tag a public Instagram account and direct the chatbot to create new A.I. photos based on photos from that person’s account. The privacy backlash was immediate. Along with automatically enrolling users in the feature, Meta didn’t notify people when their accounts were used to generate A.I. images. Hundreds of users took to social media to decry the new feature, asking how they could opt out while criticizing the company for a lack of consent. One user said on social media that the feature was “a privacy landmine waiting to detonate,” while others on Instagram shared templates for how to disable it. A Meta spokesman said in a statement that private accounts and users under 18 were excluded from the new feature, which can be disabled “with just a couple clicks.” “We will take action against any content that violates our Community Standards,” the company added. What can I do about this? The easiest way to opt out and protect your account is to set your account to private. But if you’d like to keep your account public, go into Instagram’s settings and scroll down to the “share and reuse” tab. In the sections titled “Allow people to reuse your content on Instagram and with AI features,” toggle the setting to “off.” You can also change the A.I. settings for individual pictures and videos. Users cannot stop their audio, text and comments from being “reused” by Meta’s A.I., the company said.
Democratic Socialism is a hedge against the horrors of fascism, totalitarianism, and capitalism.
Very true.
Has either of your parents ever accidentally called you/your siblings the wrong name? (someone else's name, like other sibling, pet, etc)
Yes, at least once
No, but I've seen it happen to someone else
No, never
I don't have pets/siblings/parents/hair
Yes, at least one every time we've ever had a conversation.
Yes, many many times. With five of us, she'd just yell whichever name came out first and then follow with the rest. When she ran through all five, she'd then repeat the name she meant to say in the first place! LOL!
Time to officially open Fourth of July weekend activities with the one and only appropriate movie that is the yearly tradition in this household: 'Independence Day'!

Hey, we’re in line for some absurd temperatures here in the southwest this week. This is very important to know and keep in mind. Be safe, stay hydrated, stay out of the sun as much as you can.
For my fellow Europeans south of us who are currently suffering from extreme heat. Stay safe!
I’d also like to add this
Additional you can also put them on your palms, also, make sure to always use a light towel or kitchen paper and don’t put the ice bags directly onto your skin!
Peeps in extreme temperatures, plain water is NOT the only way to stay hydrated and can in fact be more dangerous if you're sweating a lot and not putting more electrolytes back into your body.
There are a ton of quick and cheap electrolyte drink recipes that you can find online. Tea, coffee, cocount water, milk, milk substitutes, juice, etc are all hydrating despite extremely persistent myths. Many fruits and veggies like cucumbers, watermelon, strawberries, bell peppers, etc have high water content and are a great way to hydrate while also getting vital nutrients. Popsicles are also a good way to stay cool and hydrated and you can buy them or make your own with whatever ingredients you want; there are recipes online, including ones for electrolyte popsicles, but you can also just do basic ones with your choice of fruit juice and whatever you want to add, like chunks of fresh or frozen fruit.
Anyone who is telling you that you can ONLY drink plain water to stay hydrated is incredibly misinformed, even if they have experience with high temperatures.
I am from (born, raised, lived there until I was 32) a region with high, humid temperatures and have now spent 2 years in an extremely dry climate that still gets quite hot in the summer, even though my entire life I've struggled with dehydrating very easily and quickly.
When you are experiencing extreme heat, your body is working overtime trying to keep you cool. You are using up all your nutrients and energy faster in addition to losing electrolytes as you sweat. You need extra water, extra electrolytes, extra sugar (your body converts sugar into energy and boy is it burning through it's energy reserves rn), and extra nutrients like vitamins/minerals.
-- The reason tea and coffee are said to not be hydrating is because caffeine is a diuretic, which means it makes you pee. It is a myth that they are not hydrating because they really do have plenty of water content, but also you should be mindful of how much caffeine you're drinking. Consider decaf/caffeine-free options for your additional cups beyond your usual amounts so that you are not having to pee too frequently.
-- I have never heard that milks, coconut water, or juice are not hydrating, thank goodness. They very much are. In fact, they all have water AND other sugars/nutrients that you need. Drink them.
-- "Watery" fruits/veggies are extremely helpful during extreme heat. They really do have water AND other nutrients that your body needs. All the ones mentioned above are great. I particularly like melons (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc.) for their water + sugar content. Another thing I do is freeze grapes. I portion them out into separate containers, then grab one to let it mostly un-freeze before eating. This was great to take in my lunches to school as they were the right level of unfrozen right at my lunchtime. Just don't let them completely unfreeze or else they get mushy.
-- Electrolyte drinks, like Gatorade, Pedialyte, or salt packets (LMNT, Saalt, BioSteel, etc.) are extremely important. As said, you need to replace your electrolytes. You should absolutely be drinking these AND plain water/other hydration sources. Please.
-- Popsicles are also an excellent way to get some more water/sugar while cooling off. If you don't have a popsicle stand/kit to make your own, you can make ice cube versions; pour your juice/liquid of choice into an ice tray and then put in any fruit or inclusions if desired.
Other tips to cool down:
wet a towel or cloth with cold water and then place over your forehead and/or across the back of your neck.
swipe a cool, wet cloth over your body and then let your skin air dry (it's the same physics as sweating but loosing less of your own water/electrolytes from it)
remember that hot air rises; while inside, spend as much time as possible as close to the ground as possible. It's often not much, but any little bit helps
be intentional about moving as little as possible-- bring entertainment, snacks, and hydration to wherever you're going to sit/lay and then stay there as long as possible. Conserve your energy.
half-fill water bottles and then lay them on their side in the freezer. Once frozen, fill the other half with water and drink. This makes sure the water stays more evenly cold bc the entire thing is in contact with the ice.
SCIENCE WINS: A group of former National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration employees who had been fired by Elon Musk's DOGE have launched a new climate science website documenting global climate change.
The new site, climate.us, is a effectively a copy of climate.gov, the website shuttered by the Trump administration last June.
With the launch of the website, these bold climate scientists and experts—once silenced by Trump and Elon Musk—will now have a place to share insights on hurricanes and other significant weather events happening because of climate change.
Science wins. DOGE victims unite.
Yup.

Trump racism and anti-blackness defines him.
He has always been who he is now. It's just that the truth started way back and I knew it because, back in the day, I read the newspapers from NYC for fun. They actually called him and his father out for who they really were.
Surprises when least expected!
We went out to a local art gallery tonight to see the opening of a show that included one of my sibling's art and their best friend's art. We were very excited to see it because these artists usually don't show in our area! As we arrived in the nearby city, we pulled into a nearby parking lot and got out.
In the entrance to the lot, there was a woman with a table and some political info and I stopped by to see it. We talked a bit and then she said my name! I looked closer and realized I knew her as well. When I was an elementary classroom aide and substitute, she was one of the teachers. She convinced me to go back to school to finish my degree and get my teaching license, including a recommendation letter to a local university that had a special program for adults returning to school.
I had not seen her in years, but did think of her from time to time. Now, here's the crazy thing! Today, I was going through some old files in my home office and ran into that recommendation letter she wrote for me. I thought to myself how I'd missed her and wondered how she was doing these days.
Not four hours later, there I was catching up with her in a random parking lot! We hugged! This world can be so small sometimes!!!
Rights you have from birth are slowly stripped away by conservative politicians.
Constructs are created to control. Medical debt? Student debt? Remove these constructs and you have instant freedom.
Universal healthcare would remove the employer's control of your health insurance and allow you to move from job to job, or if you lose your job, and still have health care.
just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
EMERGENCY - ITS AUTO ENABLED!
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
In my settings, this was auto-disabled for all my blogs. You might still want to check yours, especially if you've been hanging out in my replies/comment section as a way to avoid putting anything from my blog on your blog
Reblog if you think the person you reblogged this from deserves to be happy.
