Working so hard on self-love right now. It’s so hard to stop telling myself mean things. I’m a bully to myself. For years, I’ve told myself “you’re ugly, you’re fat, you’re dumb, you’re worthless”. I have believed every mean thing ever said to me but for some reason all the nice words just don’t stick. Why is it so hard to love myself? Why is it that I can look in the mirror and say “ugh, gross” when I would ~never say that about anyone else?

I am fragile. I have been broken time and time again. I fear that my cracks are all anyone sees when they look at me. I have spent time hating the person looking back at me in the mirror. And I have spent time learning to love her, too.

You can choose to be a broken window; the kind that lets in a cold draft of air and sucks out all the warmth in a room because you dwell in your resentment of all the ways you’ve been wronged.

Or you can choose to fuse your broken parts together with love, and become something new; something stronger. Something that lets the light shine through you and cast dancing colors across anyone who looks at you. You can create beauty from broken pieces. Like a stained glass window.
