Episode Two of my "Summer Re-Vamp" series, I'm turning a faux suede sweater jacket into a cool band/Napoleon/conductor jacket (of my dreams!). I think my favorite part of the episode is when I talk about how obnoxious I'm about to be in the fall with this thing.

I like the dress. I know you're mixed on dressing more femme, but even when you do, it's still giving. Smile, don't smile. Your face and expressions are the best part of your daily updates. Long distance friendships means I don't get to see your resting face or your smiley one nearly often enough! I rarely smile in ootd pics tho. My face isn't usually awake yet.

I think I also don't like smiling in all my pictures because of that thing I was telling you- I feel like I'm supposed to perform cheerfulness and it's just not who I am. I'm a snarky, grumpy little person who would rather look like I could kick ass than give hugs. I think my mom is from the generation of pressuring people to smile all the time and I just feel stupid doing it.
You and my mom are the reason I take selfies & film, though. I know you like seeing my weird little face. ❤️ And I love having the sweetest most beautiful bestie in the world.

I would like for you to imagine me and my mom on this bus trip, okay? We're on the bus back from Cape May. We've got another like, two hours to go? But we're not sleeping. So I explain to her the plot of Give Up Forever, what I'd like to have happen and asked her for tips to get there. So we're talking about my little gay vampire boyfriend situation, right?
And it's mostly people over sixty (nothing wrong with that, just giving you a demographic). Like, not all of the people but I think a good portion of them.
From behind us, this little old lady sitting with her husband is getting annoyed and I start laughing. My mom is like "what's going on" and I tell her not to worry about it and I just keep talking, almost whispering, to my mom about my story.
I hear the little old lady say, very loudly, "JUST STOP TALKING! STOP TALKING!!"
No one listens to her. Everyone on the bus is involved in conversation. But the funny thing is my mom and I are in front of her talking about gay vampires, and what my mom can't hear is the woman seated behind the little old lady talking really loudly about serial killers, Freddy Kruger and Michael Myers. (Little Old Lady does not know that the two older women in front of me are talking about Chucky.) That's what I was laughing about when my mom asked me because I'd clocked what the women in the back were talking about and it occurred to me there was one normal old woman on this bus of people who were more than a little fucked up.

My Mom: No. I HATE The Lost Boys.

Using the intrepid filter on Picmonkey like it's 2012 for this picture, but I wanted to show off this cute shark journal & other things I got from this store in Cape May yesterday. I had an idea for a Bottomfeeder chapter yesterday while I was swimming that I might write in the journal. I had a lovely conversation with the lady at the register about the bracelets (I wanted the one that said "punch nazis", but I figured I'd accidentally wear it somewhere inappropriate) and I HIGHLY recommend this cute little store.
