White Shade

“Madison…I don’t care what you have to say. Just get out. I don’t know what you’re doing here, but it can’t be good. So just leave.” She said as she pointed to the door. 

  “Why would it be anything but good? You’re my sister, the aunt to my child. We are more than a bound of royal blood connected by a coven tribe, we are sisters, family. Don’t shut me out, not after mom--” Madison bit back her words having a hard time with Fiona’s passing. The new supreme always had a way of sucking the life from the old one when their time was coming. Something Madison held begrudgingly to her heart, but with Fiona gone--Madison found there to be little reason to not go back to how they used to be without the power control. “Mother disliked you, not me..Kate. I am not the enemy”

Kate’s mouth dropped open and she felt her heart stop. “What the hell..” She said as if she were staring at a ghost. 

  “Not affiliated with hell, though some may beg to argue....” Madison’s voice trailed off as she adjusted the collar of her shirt that was tucked over her cardigan. It wasn’t the meeting she was necessarily expecting. “Though mother may be there now...or haunting you beneath your floor boards and in your walls.”

  “That’s the thing about pasts, they’re behind us. --Don’t speak of our mother.. --I love my sister, and quite frankly I don’t need you to justify that fact. Whether you like it or not, I will be a part of your life. Kate and I are royal blood. We will always be in close distance of one another. I didn’t come here to argue with a swamp witch whose hair wreaks of sage. Stop creating a gap in between family, and our tribe. Ask that damn concil, white witches, knowing of one another or not always band together, never against one another. God damn, I swear some of you guys can be the most mindless of them all .--is it too --what--too hard to get along? You act like I am the succubus for all that is evil”

  “Did she tell you about how she wanted to marry me?” Losing focus on the other power headed woman’s words, Madison felt her shoulders push back and her chest lift. Her heart had warmed a little more after spending time with her daughter, and opening up to Hadley. It wasn’t until after Fiona carried onward, that the blonds emotional rope was cut making her recklessly loose control. “Light witches, no matter how hot headed, we have a heart.” It was why she held her force so tightly to block the other from her mind. “Go on, scramble my mind. Look at Hadley fall in love with me, and lose her isolating standards. Watch her become a mother and friend to my daughter.” Each sentence made the witch’s feet step intimidatingly closer to Arianna. Her words were firm as she dared the other to seep into her. “Watch her be needy for me.. Call me the fool, she is running towards you, because I pushed her away. Mock me, tell me it’s my loss.” The woman tightly stood. --and here it was, that mocking, condescending laugh she gave Arianna often. “--but she came to you at a loss of me. --and your foolishness turned her away too. Pity. Makes you twice the fool as I have ever been.”

  “I am a witch of white light after all. We have such warm, endearing hearts. The mothering nature is an extreme unstoppable force. --It isn’t your fault for having such accusations..what would you know about it?”

  “I am just a little confused as to why you chose to waste both of our times by speaking to me... Thank you for such a warm welcome. I really appreciate it.” There was a condescending look to Madison’s face. The way her eyes didn’t falter a glint of weakness, and the smile that usually riled others up, or made them fall weak beneath her effortless thumb. Granted, Madison had been living a better life. Her mother was gone, and she had her daughter, and a girlfriend who would have plummeted to the end of the earth for her. She had felt...warmer, and more in control of her emotions. “She missed her girlfriend, she was worried about Hadley..--ah, trash inbreeds...have you told Hadley that’s what she is? I’m sure she would love to hear her call her kind such a thing.” The strong witch put a shield to her mind. It was what made Arianna and Madison so unique together, they were both so endlessly powerful to their own kind. 

  “Oh, Misty, such an awful thing to wish my daughter a life without a mother. How selfish.. hm.”

  “Don’t look all too pleased to see me. Kate and I are from the same bloodline, remember.”

  “The cat must be Hadley. She can’t seem to stray away from me for too long before that deep missing ensues. --God, --ironic-- but you can literally mistake this place for a landfill.--must be your desperate stench and filthy litter unnecessarily overpopulating the place. Do us all a favor and quit passing those genes along. Such cruelty to give to a child, genes from you.”

Willow looked over at Madison, seeing her body tense up. She wanted to ask if she was okay, but she was an adult…and could probably handle it. Suddenly they were surrounded by the most colorful pumpkins, wrapped in curling vines. Willow was shocked when Madison complimented her, “me..? You’re impressed with me?” She said with a huge smile on her face, feeling as if she got her mothers approval. “I appreciate the compliment..” She said with blushing cheeks. “The coven is a mess…but I’ve seen it much worse than it is now.”

Madison flexed her jaw pushing the thoughts of Selena away with an uneasy sigh. “Yeah,” she began with a light smile. “I am. You started off with very little control and now look at you.” She motioned to Willow. “Most of us haven’t even been able to focus on our magic, we’re too worried about how to keep the Coven together--even though we just sit around twiddling our thumbs...but it’s entirely up to my sister and Victoria.” She nibbled on her bottom lip for once not feeling power hungry for her sisters crowning. --there was something about the pumpkin patch that was a little calming. “Are you going to turn one of these pumpkins into a carriage?” “You’ve seen worse?” Madison chuckled scrunching her brows. “Sometimes it seems like it can’t get worse than this...but I think I am just seeing this covens life asa whole. I’ve done some pretty terrible things.Most can’t stand me- Why do you like being around me Willow? 

Selena felt Madison’s body tremble against hers, which was why she took a firmer hold of her, not wanting to let her go and especially not drop to the floor. She didn’t know if it was the right thing to do as she could technically feel the power spread in Madison’s body like a wildfire, but it didn’t stop her from clutching onto her. The vampire bit down her lower lip, knowing that if her heart would still be beating it’d be beating so hard right now. Out of love and fear. But even though she didn’t had a beating heart anymore, somehow she could feel the same emotions inside her. That’s what Madison did to her, she felt more alive than ever. And she gasped for breath when the blonde told her she loved her too, feeling her arms around her neck. ‘’Not pathetically, perfectly,’’ she whimpered back with a soft smile after out of relief. ‘’I love you so much, you don’t even know,’’ she continued. ‘’I’m not going anywhere, not ever again.’’ The vampire took even a more firm grip on her, if it was even possible. She felt her heartbeat against her dead chest, felt her breathing rhythm in her neck as Madison had put her face there. She lifted up one hand to softly stroke Madison’s hair, not wanting to let go of her. ‘’I’m here for you,’’ she continued to comfort her, hopefully to calm her down.

The wildfire of power that radiated through Madison’s body washed out calmly, and all at once her emotions hit her. She missed her sister- how close they used to be before Madison’s ploy to be under her mothers thumb of approval drenched her in chaos. She missed her daughter- they way things used to be before Madison took her own life so her daughter could live. She missed her husband- how tightly stitched in a warm thread their family had been before Ellie’s pregnancy, before the cheating. She missed Selena, and all of this missing had made the blond crave the womans attention even more. “I’m such a mess.” she admitted trying not to sob, instead she whimpered; panting breathlessly against the woman’s neck. Held by Selena’s soothing arms, Madison sniffled and nuzzled her head a little more. “Sometimes I think it would have been better if my sister and her hippy girlfriend just left me in the ground... the chaos hasn’t ended and sometimes I feel like... like I am different now.. I used to be happier, more controlled...but you remind me of that happiness.” the woman sniffled again, her arms holding Selena tighter to comfort herself. 

Selena held Madison’s hand dearly against her chest, wanting to feel anything coming from her. Anything. Even if it was the littlest twitch from her fingers, just something that could say she actually cared for the heartless vampire. It was clear Madison didn’t want to look at her, not wanting to spill one single glance at her any longer, not after she had been demanding to actually destroy her. In fact, Selena couldn’t care less, cause she knew that what she had been glamoring into her was gonna cause a lot of pain. And she needed to look away for a moment herself, until she felt the atmosphere around her change.

Madison’s body began to tremble as she came back down from her high. The magic that coursed through her body wasn’t ready to calm down, it was ready to burst shredding the house and everything around it for miles off it’s radius; but the woman hadn’t had the will in her to destroy Selena. She was a person that she grew to love because her heart wanted to. She hadn’t loved carelessly, truly loved, and she fell into a spiral for the woman standing before her. “I love you too.” Madison sniffled gasping on a breath as Selena wrapped her arms around her, automatically sending Madison’s arms around her lovers neck. “I’m pathetically in love with you.” The woman sobbed nuzzling her face into the crook of the vampires neck. “I’d beg you to stay.” She muffled against Selena’s cool skin--it felt good against Madison’s face as she felt her body pulse with heart still. Madison was an emotional person. She was needy for love and approval. Victoria had preassured her into becoming this perfect trophy of a daughter, and her love was conditional and fake. Selena filled that empty needy gap Madison had always tried to cling for.
