Mac Tire Captures

These matte pictures will always have my heart. They really make me wonder what is happened, is happening and will be happening. These orange hues are so pretty, they’re my favourite.

Why is this man’s head covered? What’s with the rope? Why is he at that location? Why is he in that box?  So many questions arise. You can make up a story, but I really want to know what the story of the creator is. 

Plastic is a very nice material to play with since it lets light shine through. All these colours really compliment one another and even makes the plastic not look like plastic anymore. For some reason it makes me think of material floating in the ocean. 

The flash really froze the water which makes it look interesting and immediately captured my attention. The harsh flash and added grain really make the pictures look like they were made on film, while this isn’t the case. I like the close up more because you can’t see the context of a pool anymore.

What did this woman do? These eerie scenes make me think she killed a horse, because of the other one standing in the background in the first photo. The style of the dress and the worn look of the sheet that’s hanging, make it seem as if these photos were taken a long time ago. The red and green really compliment each other.

Another take on the very basic and overly used “long exposure at the freeway”. It’s cool that you can’t see the car itself anymore in the distance and that the car lights left a wiggly trail instead of just a straight one.

Back again with some foggy, moody photos. These pictures make it seem as if you’re looking at the scenery through someone’s eyes. They make me miss snowy, foggy winters.

Such a simple subject, yet such powerful photos. An empty train portrays some kind of loneliness and these vintage colour hues also add to that feeling.

I love how the fog adds to the vibe of these pictures. You have to look at them for a while to see all the details which captures the viewers. The red lights shining through and popping out of the picture also grab your attention. These photos make me want to go out and shoot at a foggy night.

All the photos contain the same subjects: the mountain and the man. By this, it connects all four pictures. These photos are very moody and the brown hues give them a nostalgic feeling while still being modern.

Sometimes I get trapped in the idea of always needing the most beautiful location and the most beautiful light setup, yet there are so many examples of super basic locations being used to create beautiful works of art. The post processing in these photos are also very unique in my opinion.

Last week we had a webinar in which Fabio Bucciarelli was being interviewed. He is an Italian photojournalist who goes to conflict areas all over the world. He captures the situation as it is, but gives an artistic spin to his work in my opnion. 

When I was scrolling through his instagram to choose a picture for this assignment, this one immediately stood out to me. The rainbow almost seems Photoshoped. So much conflict going on in this pictures. People in the forground wearing the scarfs over their head and in the background people with shields and heavy protection. The rainbow is in great contrast with the conflict that is happening in the photo.

This idea is so clever. When you’re just mindlessly scrolling, as we all do, it looks like a very dramatic and bloody scenery. But when you actually LOOK at the photos, you can see the “blood” is actually strawberries. The white sheets make the “blood” even pop out more of the picture.  These photos also make you wonder a couple of things. Why is the man killed? Why is he blindfolded?

I’ve been dying to make a roadtrip through nature views and taking pictures like these. They have a nostalgic summer feeling to them and really portray the nice time the photographer was having on this trip.

These backgrounds would be great for some cool portraits. When doing portraits, I’d edit these images differently to maintain a natural skin tone. This edit really fits with these photos though.

A mic of graphic design and photography. It’s very minimalistic but the brown hues in the blacks makes the images a bit more special. 

This mixed media designs are super weird and quirky but oh so fun to look at. It makes the viewer look twice at the image. I think it can make a lot of people laugh as well.
