If I was a man I would not play when a woman loves me. And the thing with being loved is you canβt expect it you just have to love. For men the question of being loved is scarier than the question of loving. And for women loving is scarier than being loved cause thatβs an actual risk. When you love you sacrifice. But women are so good at loving, men are bad at it. Men being bad at it makes women bad at being loved but thatβs not so much an issue cause theyβve had to risk everything already before getting there. Being good at being loved is not a thing cause everything else has to work out to begin with so if you got to that point in spite of it all youre not good at anything youβre just lucky. So really itβs the woman with the sacrifice. You can read Medea and really understand her pain. She did a lot of regrettable things but she did them out of love and you cannot regret love and you can never take any of it back. Youβd think unconditional love would shield you from such betrayal yet you could never love unconditionally strategically with the goal of preventing betrayal. You just have to love and have faith you just have to do it. Thatβs the insane sacrifice. Yet he betrays her omg. She regrets ever loving him. She cannot recognize this as reality because before hers was never loveless. Her commitment is demonstrated by the fact that she has burned all her bridges, there is absolutely no way back from this. Like OMG It bears repeating she literally sacrificed EVERYTHING for him and heβs like Lol I never asked you to do that but also I only got to where I am now because you did all that and I am now revealing to you that while you love me to me you are just an instrument and I am moving on now because I prefer power over love and I donβt care about you at all and if that is who I am then obviously I am also unable to love our children. Well he didnt say all that but thats the tea. He poisoned her first, and he didnβt just poison her he poisoned the whole world and for Medea, or for anyone who can identify with that, that is anyone who feels anything, that is a human being, he just made us lose faith in an absolute sense, weβve completely lost the world we thought we knew. If Medea loving him seems random itβs because this whole drama just uproots logic and familiarity and takes us to the world that Jason invented. A world of lovelessness. He might as well have thrown us all into a black hole. Would you want anyone to live in this world. But then she killed her children but not herself thatβs just crazy. But again, look what you made her do. Itβs so sickening you canβt blame anyone or do anything you just have to sit and watch it all happen and itβs not just tragedy itβs double tragedy itβs completely heightened to the absolute most extreme limits of human emotion like it just completely went there entirely. Medea is a masterpiece. Like Iβm so team birth of tragedy. itβs so good the worst thing happens in fiction cause real life is so much worse than the worst thing in fiction but now itβs not as bad cause you got a great piece of fiction in it
