[Mousetrap kneels on the floor in front of a small robot, hands on its shoulders. The robot does not move, its head hangs low. A faint click-whrr is audible from a panel somewhere on its back, and Mousetrap winces.]

[Edgar the dog is temporarily two times stronger than usual.]
[Mousetrap is still pacing when this takes effect, and the next time Edgar presses against their legs - unexpectedly to both of them - the weight is enough to knock them over. They stagger and catch one hand on the wall on the way down, notebook and pencil falling to the floor. When their knees hit the floor, they wince, and Edgar immediately piles onto their lap.]
[Mousetrap is pacing their apartment, a notebook in hand. In their other hand is a pencil, which they're currently spinning between their fingers and intermittently writing something down.]
[Edgar is following them back and forth, occasionally pressing against their legs and on several instances nearly knocking them over with his weight.]
[A projection of sheep with numbers on them jumping over the fence appears on the ceiling right above Mousetrap's bed. A cartoony version. Eventually, some numbers start to get skipped. 14, the 5 in 15, 22, the 5 in 25, one number gets replaced with 18 for some reason, the 7 in 27, another number gets replaced with 15, two 14s follow one after another, then the 1 in 31..]
[Mousetrap raises one eyebrow, but watches the sheep for a while. Confusion crosses their expression as the numbers mix up and muddle. Between lack of sleep and the downright incorrect numbers, they're getting increasingly hard to follow.]
[After a few minutes of trying to process what they're looking at, they sigh and swing their legs off of the bed - nearly kicking Edgar accidentally in the process.]
S- sorry.
[With that, they are out of bed.]
[Edgar has fallen off of the bed with a soft whoof. He stays laying on the floor.]
[Mousetrap lays in bed, staring at the ceiling. Edgar has fit himself into the space beside them on the bed. It's objectively too hot out for a large dog pressed against one's side, but neither of them seem to mind too much.]
[Sleep has evaded them this night.]

On a different note, tone tags fascinate me. They have essentially replaced a lot of punctuation, have they not? There used to be more than just an exclamation point and a question mark. Although I suppose that tone tags are more accessible, even if they are more chunky. Do you have any opinions on the subject?

I do not find myself using tone tags, though I believe I have a good foundational understanding of them via my time on the internet
to a degree, they have taken the place that certain punctuation and emoticons used to occupy, though some users still use a combination or exclusively the latter
I believe tone tags have taken on quite a form of their own though, and in many ways both aid in and hinder online communication. there is quite a bit of nuance to the situation, I may not be able to articulate it as well as I'd like considering the hour
