Title: MedicineÂ
Song: “Medicine” by DaughterÂ
Choreography: Will BrightonÂ
Dancers: Carmen Alvarez and Will BrightonÂ
Description: This is a lyrical piece I choreographed for the purposes of this project. I chose a duet over a solo to allow for more options of levels and dynamics to account for the lack of dynamics in sharp and smooth movements that are missing from the genre of lyrical. This dance is meant to express the emotions behind the song lyrics, which tell the story of someone being impacted by drug abuse. While mostly lyrical, the dance does take influences from contemporary dance, particularly near the end with the inclusion of structured improvisation as part of the choreography.
