and most of the time, literally most of the time, they're like noooooo if i tell them i still think about that delicious thing they made or that they make every event they attend way more fun or that my fav mug that i use every day is the one they made etc it'd be weeeeeeeeird

fuck that. we r telling people the positive impact they make!!!

people need to be reminded regularly that people like them and want them around. social groups that make an effort to make everyone feel included are less stressful and more fun.

also i keep running into people whose biggest insecurity is the thing i most want to thank them for, and/or who have no idea their family or friend group hold them in high regard for the exact thing that same group mercilessly teases them for.

ik my level of general sincerety is a bit much for most ppl. im not asking u to go out and start being as painfully earnest as i am!!

but when you're so focused on your funny ironic detachment bit that u don't notice someone you love has no idea that those mean jokes aren't just you expressing real disdain in a funny way, it might be time to turn that dial towards sincerety just a tiny bit.
