When the gilded blade extra content is just more avery dealing with the cult and not the funny cute extra scenes that jlb cut out to make her book as fast paced yet boring as possible

This paragraph and the sentence highlighted are SO important because, even though i think jlb went too far with her whole family situation, we have to remember that lyra simply is

it doesnt matter that her family was once from spain, before migrating to brazil

it doesnt matter that her mom isnt her mom, and her dad isnt her dad, and shes not really related to anyone in her family

These are such big things to US and although they are important, we need to remember these things that have been said through out the series:

• keith is not lyras bio father, yet she has ALWAYS been a daddys girl and favoured her dad to her mom

• grayson saying “I cannot fully explain to you what Avery is to my brothers and to me, but I have confidence that I don’t need to explain to you that family isn’t just blood.”

• lyra saying that she has ALWAYS known that she is loved

Am i frustrated at how crazy jlb spun things about lyras family out of proportion? YES. Of course!! But we have to remember that although WE as readers would feel so confused and upset at finding out we dont share relation with people we thought we did, lyra has been used to this fact. Yes its going to take adjusting even for her. But she KNOWS she is deeply loved and appreciated. And blood wont change that. Even grayson knows this.

Lyra is a brazilian girl, who shares no relation with the people who raised her, and believed something was true when it wasnt for 3 years.

But shes also kind, and stubborn, and driven, and IS herself without hesitation. All these things we use to identify ourselves has never matter to her—she never knew her geographical background anyway, and blood doesnt matter when the people she was raised with (entire kane extended family) loved her beyond genes.

yeah tgb was shit. yeah all the characters got so much more bland. yeah the plot was too much.

What the eve and toby (rlly just toby tho LOL) funeral scene felt like in a different font

Bro im ngl… that book was kind of SHIT

There was so much going on that i felt the characters started to slip away. I also felt that jlb was trying to make this book as “epic” as possible that she LITERALLY RUINED GOOD SFUFF THAT WAS ALREADY GOING ON!!

(Most of this rant is going to be about lyras parental situation. Sorry)

For example, that Katalin woman did NOT have to be lyras mother, and her father didnt have to be sooooo absent. I think if she ended where she started with lyras father being the main source, it wouldve been MUCH better. Also, i only cared about her dads storyline so much because i really did think there was more to him!

His character should have been about a young man who was shown power and, after never having it, got overwhelmed and pulled in too soon. I ALWAYS thought this would be much easier!! And then it’d also play into the “young” thing, which explains why lyras mom was so trusting and naive. It could have also been a plot point for ROHAN too, who could see lyras fathers struggle for power and where it landed him (DEAD, not living it up on the beach) and made him realize that that, alongside his love for sav, was the reason why he shouldnt become proprietor

And lyras mom being her mother just makes more sense. Its gets too complicated afterwards, esp because, since katalin is her mother, tomas therefore cant be his father, otherwise there’d be some weird incest thing going on and jlb ALWAYS treads too close to incest. So then you’d have every parental figure (keith, darby, AND tomas) having 0 to some relation to her

The potential that tomas’ character had was OTHERWORDLY… and then he showed up on page with his fucking “darcy” and i was pissed the hell off

I swear i was being looked out for by not buying the book because… GUYS. I alwayssss feel so jittery after reading jlbs books. The grandest game and glorious rivals made me LIGHT HEADED from how crazy and exciting they were. This was just bad. And all i feel now is disappointment at the idea that a series i once loved so much is ending like THAT

So my mom told my dad to not mess with the ac because he kept trying to fix it since it doesnt blow out much cold air, but he just made it worse every time he tried. She told him to call someone, he wouldnt.

Then, in the middle of summer, he broke it and we couldnt use it.

I remember hearing yelling and waking up to the sound of it, and being like “omg its like 9 am how are my parents fighting”. I was all mad thinking i was gonna go downstairs and yell at them. Then i realize (after it continues for about 10 minutes) i can pretty much only hear my moms voice so im like oh maybe shes on a call or something (because when she calls her sisters it can get heated).

I go downstairs and my mom is standing in the kitchen, YELLING at my dad about how he shouldve listened to her while he just stands there with his head down taking it.

I saw my future 🥹
