Castle of Torrechiara is a beautiful medieval castle located near Parma in northern Italy. It was built between 1448 and 1460 by Pier Maria II de’ Rossi as both a fortress and a noble residence.

The castle is famous for combining strong defensive walls with elegant Renaissance-style decorations. It was also built as a symbol of Pier Maria’s love for Bianca Pellegrini, and many rooms contain romantic artwork dedicated to her.

Surrounded by vineyards and hills, Torrechiara controlled important routes in the Parma countryside. Unlike many castles, it survived wars and centuries with much of its structure intact.
