Lex was undoubtedly a private person, one who had always internalised and dealt with her struggles alone as opposed to sharing the weight. It was second nature at this point but Kai had been one of the very few she confided in with complete certainty. When he asked her about her hesitations she nodded, âIt wouldnât be the first time heâs tried something like that and Iâm so tired of his games, Kai. Thereâs always a catch. Always something brewing. In some fucked up way - I understand why he does the things he does. When you live as long as he has⌠life can be incredibly mundane. Iâve said for a long time that boredom is our species downfall. It leads to destruction, greed, callousness and in most cases ends in our demise.â She explained with a sigh running a hand through her rarely dishevelled auburn locks. âJeremy is finally content. I couldnât bare to see that taken away from him.â The redhead finished softly.Â
Crystal hues lifted at the offer, âIf you think thereâs something you could do that would bring me some peace of mind? Iâd be eternally grateful. Iâm sure Jeremy would appreciate it too. Heâd never admit it, far too polite. Iâm sure he hates having an overbearing older sister.â She joked a little smiling some.Â
Returning with their drinks, Lex handed over the glass smiling softly at her dearest friend. Kai was a creature of habit in the drink department, much like herself. âAlright, well for starters - I claimed someone. His nameâs Levi, not sure if you guys have met before.â Her lip quivered with the fondness she held for the shifter. âHeâs a good man. Very easy on the eyes.â

Kai nodded as he listened to Lexi explain more about how her species inevitably fell prey to the endlessness of time. He could understand it perfectly, how someone could become bored and thus destructive to the world around them, after all when you had nothing but time to fill, it seemed so easy to fill it with anything possible, even the bad. âI can understand how frustrating that must be Lex, never knowing what he plans to do.â Kai sympathised. He wished he could do more for his friend, help her fix the problem that was her sire.Â
Kai gave it some thought before turning to one of his grimoire in order to look over a few different spells that might help before he settled on something. âItâs not much, but I could amplify the link between you and Jeremy, perhaps it would give you more of an early warning if something happened to him?â Kai offered, it was all he could do at such short notice.Â
When Lex explained sheâd claimed someone, Kai looked surprised, but he was pleased for his friend. He knew Lexi never did anything without being 100% sure about it so the claim wasnât something sheâd done on a whim. âNo Iâve not had the pleasure, Iâm happy for you Lex. We should all have dinner sometime.â
