Gojo satori considered you to be her most loyal, human friend she’d ever had for centuries. She thought of humans to be too frail or too dull-witted, safe to say she hadn’t missed her very short human life whatsoever.
She found you worthy of living, the first time she saw you she didn’t think of peeling your flesh and sucking onto your warm blood as you screamed in agony.
Perhaps thats when she started her vegan life— or at least that’s what she amusingly refers it to.
She began on feeding animals, or donated human blood from the hospital you both resided closely to.
Sure, she thought it was dull. It lacked the euphoria that pumped into her veins as she heard human cries tearing out of their throats. But she didn’t dare to scare your precious self away from her.
You saw how soft satori had become just for you, although you didn’t understand why, you refused to leave her side. No one had ever treated you exceptionally.
However, one ordinary sunset later, things changed.
“Im home!” Your called out to the seemingly empty apartment when you didn’t hear a reply. It wasn’t much of a surprise that the place was empty.
Assuming satori had gone hunting for live animals to feast on or whatever that vampires do, you headed to the kitchen to prepare yourself a light snack before unwinding for the evening.
With a single knife gripped on your hand, you began chopping an apple with careful precision. You weren’t the type to be careless with such sharp equipment.
“Boo.” A single pair of cold hands pressed onto your shoulder, completely flailing your attention from the cutting board and accidentally cutting the skin of your fingers.
You hissed in pain. “Fuck.”
Satori slowly peeled her hands off your shoulders, gaze struck on your finger as she watched crimson bleed out between the folds of your thin skin, the sharp metallic scent filling her senses.
“Satori!” You exclaimed, your voice bringing her back to reality as she snapped her gaze to yours.
“Y—yeah?” She stammered, her hardened composure cracking under something so simple— blood.
For the first time, she’d envisioned what it would be like to taste you. Was your blood indescribably sweet tasting that she wouldn’t get enough of you, or was it like fine wine that was hard to pass?
“Can you get me a plaster?” You frowned, your fingers throbbing in pain. Without a single response from satori, she vanished into thin air and returned immediately with a plaster on hand.
You muttered a thank you, peeling off the white seal of the plaster before wrapping it around your finger. “Jeez. You scared me.” You finally turned to her, with your soft tone you always had speaking to her.
Except she barely looked at you. Her confident demeanour had completely faltered, you saw sweat brim towards her white hairline, you thought it was entirely impossible for vampires to even sweat.
“I— have to go.” Without giving you a moment to protest, she vanished into thin air, the room growing warm again but it made you uncomfortable.
You enjoyed it when she brought her coolness into the room, even if you complained loudly about how cold it was and all, you still wore a blanket and endured it even if it was in the middle of july.
Now, the room was warm for the first time in a long time. Sure, she’d have her own ‘errands’ to run but they barely lasted long before she was stuck by your side again.
For the next few, tedious days, she was nowhere to be found. She even skipped out on breakfast and dinner— which she never ate because she found no joy in human food as much as blood, but you always insisted on making her a plate— your plants bloomed, the water was warmer, and you were growing less wary of her jumpscares because she was never around.
You tried going to places you were scared of but sure to find her there; the basement of the apartment building, a graveyard, a church, and forests. You willingly put your life at risk just to not find her presence.
You couldn’t even track her from her scent as you grew accustomed to the sweet aroma. You figured that she either hid her scent well or she never visited those places again because she knew you’d look for her.
And against your will, you shed tears in the middle of your workday. You had missed your dear roommate so much.
Meanwhile satori had relapsed and broken her promise. She made sure to go far away from the city you’d lived. Hunting people alive, their screams of terror music to her ears.
Although she yearned to see you, to feel you, she stayed away from you because she loved you enough to let you live.
She had already mentally made up her mind. She was going to leave, somewhere where she wouldn’t attach herself to someone like you— although it was impossible to find someone as perfect as you— she was going to go far away.
Thats why she was at the apartment at midnight to look at you one last time, so sure that you’d be asleep, probably resting that pretty head of yours onto your pillow, hugging your other pillow and white sheets warming your body.
The possibility of you sleeping well at night and perhaps relieved your vampire roommate was potentially gone, brought an ache onto her chest.
Just when she found you laying on her bed instead in your shared bedroom, face buried onto her bed and tears dampening her black sheets. Quiet sniffles echoed within the room.
Somehow, that eased her nerves. Seeing you grieve for her like she was an old lover.
You hadn’t seen her. You felt her. The room was cold again.
Whipping your head around instantaneously, you saw her as you broke out into sob. She almost vanished once more in fear before you gripped her waist and pulling her into an embrace.
“Satori!” Your voice muffled against her clothes, holding her so tight, in fear of her vanishing on you once more. She looked down on you in unadulterated surprise on her face before her fingers fell onto your curls, tangling her fingers on them before pecking your temple.
“Im sorry, little dove.” She whispered, holding you tight against her chest. Sobs spilled from your mouth, none ending.
“You left me.. all alone!” You suddenly pushed her away, your feelings conflicted with reality. Your chest ached between holding her close forever or pushing her away after the betrayal.
“I had to, y/n.” She muttered, apologetically. She barely looked at you filled from her own shame.
“Why? Why is it that you can’t?”
She paused, finally looking at you while her eyes brimmed in tears. “Ever since that night, when you bled.. i couldn’t stop thinking about it.”
She dug her nails inside her palm. “I wanted to taste you. So bad. But i dont want to hurt the person i love most.”
An average person would’ve been repulsed in fear, pushed her away and demanded to never see her again. But not you.
Your hands tangled with the hem of your shirt before peeling your shirt off, dropping it to the floor. Her mouth watered at the sight but she looked away.
“Put your shirt back on, y/n. Please..” she snivelled, in fear of not being able to compose herself.
“Satori.. you would never hurt me.” You whispered, “i can’t let you leave like this again, if you needed me ill always be here for you.”
Tears trickled down the white haired girl in front of you, she was battling her hunger and morality. She cared about you, more than you let on.
“Dont bait me, little dove.” Her voice was indistinct, wiping her tears away. She vowed to never share a shed of vulnerability but..
“I'm not. I'm giving you permission.”
Suddenly, she spawned impossibly closer to you, her blue eyes lured into yours, saliva drooling down her mouth. Her body yearned to pin her fangs down onto your skin.
She was craving you like a sick fool.
“Begging makes it harder for me to stay away.”
“I don’t want you to, satori.” You tangled your fingers into her white locks, gripping tightly and causing her to hiss.
Satori’s mouth parted as you pushed her face down onto your neck, her teeth immediately sinking onto your skin.
The eternal bliss— even if it was a moment of gratification— filled her body, something ignited within her.
She remembered the first time she was bit by a vampire, how she’d grown dizzy, hunting humans all day and night for blood, engorging herself.
She feasted like it was her last supper.
You wrapped your arms around her waist, bringing her closer to you. Despite the amount of pain your neck and arms were, almost growing limp, you didn’t dare to stop.
Even if you were to die, you would’ve died happy.
Satori pulled away seconds later in fear of getting carried away as she watched your brown skin grow pale. Her heart shook in panic before she carried you to bed, your entire body weak.
“Im so sorry, y/n. Shit.” Her breath trembled, mind gone blank as she didn’t know what to do.
She watched you weakly blink, barely smiling. At that current moment, you were an idiot. An idiot for being so ready to hand your precious human life away for a vampire, selfish to leave her all alone in the cold world.
Maybe she should’ve killed you the moment she saw you for how stupid you were. She thought you were different.
Then she considered the impossible. The heedless choice she swore to never rethink.
She would turn you into a vampire and you’ll both be forever companions.
