my favorite thing right now is how mad the official french language people are that parts of african languages are getting mixed into french
a huge percentage of the world's french speakers are in africa, and language evolves, so there's a lot of african phrases and speech patterns being incoorperated into french. the french language academy is losing their shit because european french people pick up african french from social media and are ruining the fancy shmancy purity of the language. it's hilarious
a similar thing happened a while back where children in portugal started speaking brazilian portuguese because they watched brazilian youtubers and all their parents freaked the fuck out.
although to be fair that's less the natural evolution of language and more like if your american kid watched so much bbc they started walking around like innit buggered mate
a thing that happened and still happens in latin america is that all our cartoons in all of latin america were dubbed specifically in mexico, and while mexico tried to give a "neutral accent" to the cartoons it dubbed mexican slang and entonation would inevitably filter through, so children all across america would sound mexican. this happened to me when i was a kid, i would say "refrigerador" instead of "heladera" and such
Funny you should say "innit" because the "innit bruv" modern london dialect (Multicultural London English) that arose in the last 40 years is also heavily influenced by linguistic influence from Carribean (especially Jamaican) and African English dialects as well as the languages and English dialects from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh.
Turns out when you force people around the world to speak your language, they're going to do natural language things to it.
