itâs your first christmas with hyunjin. itâs also the first time youâre meeting his parents. heâs already met yours, as you spent christmas day with your family and are now celebrating on the 26th with his. needless to say, youâre nervous. as hell.
âprincess, you need to stop worrying so much. youâre gonna make yourself sick.â typical hyunjin. always trying to keep you from getting sick (isnât he the sweetest).
âi know, but what if they donât like me? what if i donât live up to their standards? what ifâŠâ you keep listing off the what ifâs, but hyunjin isnât listening anymore.
âhey, listen. just go to sleep, weâll be there soon. and i promise theyâll love you,â hyunjin turns on the radio and starts to softly hum along, lulling you to sleep.
hyunjin doesnât wake you when you arrive. he leaves the presents in the backseat and carries you to the door, knocking with his foot. when his mom opens the door he shushes her, not wanting to wake you up so suddenly. he lays you in his old room and goes back down to see the rest of his family.
when you finally wake up, youâre greeted with an abundance of hyunjinâs baby pictures. halloween pictures, first day of school pictures, christmas pictures, everything. thereâs a book on the dresser titled Memories, and you open to the first page. itâs a photo album; all of hyunjinâs favorite memories from vacations and holidays compacted into one album. youâre flipping through the pages when hyunjin walks in.
âhey, sleeping beauty,â he teases. âyou ready to come down? itâs almost 6.â
you wave him over to you, telling him to look through the pictures with you. he throws an arm around your waist and rests his head on your shoulder. you look through the rest of the album together, making jokes, which leads to your worst nightmare. a tickle fight.
hyunjinâs mom must have heard the two of you laughing (more like hyunjinâs laughter and your pleas for mercy), as she knocks quietly before peeking in. sheâs met with a quiteâŠmisleading sight. your shirt bunched up around your waist, hair messy, tears running down your face, and arms stretched up to rest your hands on the back of hyunjinâs neck. his hands on either side of your head, legs straddling your hips, leaning down into a kiss. at the sound of the door opening, hyunjin pulls away from your kiss, leaving you slightly chasing his lips.
âam i interrupting something important?â
a deep red blush spreads across your cheeks as you sit up and run your fingers through your hair. you open your mouth to answer but hyunjin beats you to it.
âyes. we were engaged in a very serious tickle fight, and i had the upper hand.â his face is serious while he talks, but thatâs soon broken as he bursts into laughter. âno, no. you didnât interrupt anything, we were looking through some old photos and started ticking each other.â you can barely understand him through his beautiful laughter.
his mom laughs and tells the two of you to get ready for dinner, as itâs almost ready. your nervousness comes flooding back.
âoh my god, hyunjin, i donât think she likes me.â
he gives you a look, ây/n stop worrying. she loves you; i can see it in her eyes.â
you give him a doubtful nod, but follow him down into the kitchen. before you walk in, he stops you and pulls you beside him.
âclose your eyes and take a deep breath. i promise on my heart it will be fine. my family will love you. just breathe.â
hyunjin runs his thumb along your cheekbone as you do what he said, taking in his words. when you open your eyes and nod, he pulls you in for a quick kiss, just as a reassurance.
the night is wonderful. hyunjinâs family is so sweet and welcoming, and the food is amazing.
hyunjin canât keep his hands off you. during dinner, his hand was on your thigh. exchanging gifts, his arm was around your waist. now, as you all sit by the fire and share family stories, hyunjin pulls you into his lap. he rests his chin on your shoulder, his lips brushing against your neck as he whispers praises into your ear.
âyouâve done so well tonight, princess.â he presses a soft kiss against your neck, âiâm so proud of you.â someone clears their throat, announcing that itâs time for them to go. people filter out of the house one by one, bidding goodbye and safe travels and nice to meet youâs until only hyunjinâs parents and the two of you remain.
âour hyunjin must be getting sleepy. heâs not usually this clingy unless heâs tired,â his mom teases upon seeing your position. hyunjin mumbles something, unintelligible due to his lips pressed lightly against your neck.
âwhat was that, baby?â you pull away, resting your palm on his cheek. hyunjin shakes his head and nuzzles his face into your neck even more.
âthank you for everything, mr. and mrs. hwang. everything was wonderful. i think weâre gonna head up now and get some sleep, since itâs so late,â you say softly, already trying to figure out how to get hyunjin up. his parents bid you goodnight and you stand, preparing yourself for hyunjinâs complaints.
âcome on, jinnie. letâs go to bed; youâre obviously sleepy.â
he holds out his arms for you to pull him up, and he rests his entire body weight on you. you wrap an arm around his waist, holding him up long enough to get to his room.
he wakes up just long enough to change and climb into bed. he whines when you walk out, but you tell him youâll be right back in a couple minutes.
hyunjin is already asleep when you return. you climb into his (extremely small) bed next to him, resting your head on his chest.
âgoodnight, jinnie. i love youâŠâ
âââââââââââââââ
okay this one is very long. thatâs what she said. so sorry about that. or youâre welcome.
also. i fell asleep writing this TWICE last night and didnât save it. so itâs a little rushed but not really it took about two hours.
