hiatus from 2/4 – 2/15! i'm going to be in india for a wedding and won't have my computer with me so there won't be much on the dash from me both ic / ooc while i'm away. anything i get done between now and when i leave will be tossed in a queue but no promises. work has really been stressful lately so i'm preemptively starting my hiatus. hopefully, i'll come back refreshed and less anxious but i'll miss you all in the in between 🖤

making me laugh how people are calling em beautiful when 9 out of 10 times she is glamoured from head to toe and her true form is actually a decaying botanical horror monstrosity <33

if it wasn't clear enough eimile's relationship with lochlann was the result of coercion and a blatant abuse of power. not only was he a good deal older than her ( em being around 21 when they first meet and lochlann being 30 ) but he was a professor at trinity while eimile was in her senior year. while he never taught any of her classes directly they still are essentially a student and a faculty member entering into a relationship together. i will never glamorize what they had on this blog nor gratuitously write out the emotional abuse that occurs but it does greatly inform em's character and how insecure she can feel in romantic dynamics because of it. namely being, starved of affection after believing her self-worth lay entirely in her musical/writing talent and nothing else for years. she was love bombed and pushed into a rapidly progressing dynamic due to his thirst for power. he knew who she was from the moment he met her and was willing to do anything to obtain any arcane insight her death would reveal to him. their love story was never real but for eimile, for some time it was. to this day, even after she is quite literally murdered by the man she called her fiancé she has some degree of rose-colored glasses on when reminiscing. all that being said while eimile is a victim she is one with a vindictive streak. as sweet tempered as she is having her trust broken so severely definitely unveiled a vengeful spirit underneath the sugar-spun exterior. i wouldn't say a healthy way of dealing with a break-up is shackling your ex's soul to his own skeleton and forcing him to be an obedient knight to you for all of eternity. ALSO bestowing upon him the curse of silence so he cannot even voice opposition to any of it lol.

if i told you em's character is greatly inspired by my hatred of acotar and drive to right the wrongs sjm has done to the folklore of fae across cultures so in a sense she is a spite character what would you say?

not to be vampire coded on main but with em being one of the undead folk she does experience cravings for the blood of the living. while it isn't NECESSARY to consume for her survival, by any means, it is a similar indulgence to having a dessert for humans lol. that is the distinguishing factor between bean-sídhe and baobh-sìth, if anything. as baodbh-sìth are more commonly referred to as "bloody faeries" colloquially or even hags but that's up for interpretation! they hunt humans while bean-sídhe are more of companion fae for mortals. it isn't uncommon for them to develop an attachment to particular families and serve as personal heralds for them.
