Driver is smaller than Grace, and most of the rygos really. He grew up in an abusive household and has a weird relationship with food, so he likely grew up hungry and growth stunted. So he already has that going for him.
He’s also not going out and working out. His thrills come from driving. His core is probably very strong! But most of his exercise comes from mechanic work. He has very efficient strength, but not much else.
He fights dirty, though. He knows he’s not some powerhouse guy. He doesn’t care about any dumb honor in a fight. He fights to survive. He fights to win. He sucker punches a guy, he brings a hammer to a fist fight, he will claw your eyeballs out. He is terrifying and violent!
Grace, on the other hand, is strong. He’s not huge and beefy either, but he’s got some good muscle on him. This man bikes to work every day in the hilly San Francisco, you cannot tell me his legs couldn’t crush a melon or something! If he used to do field work for school, he likely went hiking pretty often, which would require some decent fitness.
Bro eats candy and depression meals, sure, but he’s definitely fed. He’s doing fine. Looking at his arms, too, that is a man who works out. Maybe not super often, but once or twice a week, or maybe he has some weights at home. Either way, he’s strong.
But he can’t fight worth a damn. He has no idea what he’s doing. He will try to defend himself, but he’s so uncoordinated and frightened it wouldn’t be hard to beat him if you know what you’re doing.
So yes, when people look at Driver and Grace together, maybe they see the size/height difference and think Grace is the strong one, and on a TECHNICALITY they aren’t wrong, but Grace is definitely not the threat. Driver isn’t a guard dog, he’s a feral cat who has taken a liking to one person and that’s Grace (and others in the past but just Grace here).
Ooc image that makes me laugh, imagine Grace picking Driver up to dragging him away from a fight because he is literally the only person able to do that. Anyone else is getting the cartilage in their nose shoved into their brain with Driver’s elbow.

Summary:
Grace returns to Earth alongside Rocky, Adrian, and a whole team of Eridians excited for first contact. The goal is to integrate Eridians onto Earth where both species can get to know each other and find peace between their planets. Grace will help with the allegiance, as well as the science teams, and maybe make some public appearances with Rocky as the Saviors of the Stars.
It's all a bit much for Grace, though. He has so much on his mind, with a brother who has aged so far beyond him, another brother he thought was dead, a family that has blown him by, and a planet he doesn't completely recognize anymore.
He needs an escape. Maybe this quiet, young driver he finds when sneaking out of his worksite is the key to his happy ending. And maybe Grace is the key to Casey's very salvation.

I mean, in some very interesting Technically Correct ways, they didn't actually die? Now, they're very much no longer alive. But the forces involved are such that they didn't get any of the usual cellular processes of death, they simply went from biology to physics in less time than it takes a signal to travel down your optic nerve.

Grace is getting older, and with the double gravity + gravity and a half + the zero gravity that he experienced for a long time in space his heart in particular is fucked up. The Eridians want to clone his heart to do a heart replacement-
But Grace has a fucked up heart, they can't clone that one. Not really. So they need to find a new heart for Grace to use. How do they do that?
Well, if they just use Grace's DNA to search through universes that are close by, they'll hopefully find a guy with a good enough heart to clone and use- FUCK. OH GOD THIS ONEs BROKEN? THEY BROKE HIS BACK?! FIX NOT-GRACE! THEY HAVE TO FIX NOT-GRACE RIGHT NOW-

How strong do you think Driver is? He’s not a bulky guy, most of his skill set is coordination and reaction time. He’s FAR from being bulky.
He definitely can tap into some adrenaline-fueled power. He can get angry and get pretty strong, but I doubt he’s going out and pumping iron. Guy’s skinny. Lean. Wiry.
I don’t think that negates what power he has, but I’ve read some fics and seen some art that make Driver this powerhouse and it just feels weird. Driver isn’t some macho, domineering man.
I’m mostly thinking aloud. Feel free to ramble at me!
Seen a bunch of fics where they had a huge fight and stopped talking, or Grace got pushed away after Colt’s accident.
Allow me to suggest insanely stubborn Ryland who REFUSES to let Colt toss him away. Maybe they DID get into a fight around the UNESCO fiasco, but made up. I dunno. But Ryland is stubborn and opinionated and now has experience handling moody middle schoolers. Colt doesn’t stand a chance.
Colt has his fall and pushes everyone away, but Ryland just won’t leave. Refuses. Not happening. Oh, they argue, and Colt says some truly heinous things, but Ryland only gets spiteful like “oh? Oh you WANT me to go?!? Well now I’m gonna support you even harder!!”
Ryland tells Colt that every single time Colt says something out of pocket or cruel, he has to do more PT exercises. No excuse. He got energy to be a b-word? He got energy to work out! Once Colt is a bit better, Ryland brings him to San Fran so he can keep working as a teacher while looking after Colt. Ryland’s apartment is a mess and Colt ends up cleaning it up, getting his bonsai trees, making friends with the neighbors.
Colt, once he’s feeling better, works as a valet, but also helps drive the school bus during the day. The kids love it when Ryland is the teacher on duty during dismissal because he and Colt sass each other the whole time. Ryland always knows when Colt is making dumb faces at him behind his back because he can hear all the kids giggling. One time Colt drove for a field trip for Ryland’s class to the Academy of Science and the other chaperones had to tell THEM to behave. Oops.
Colt’s heart slowly heals along with his body. He misses the high octane life and he’ll return to it one day, but for now he’s happy being with his twin brother again.
(And then Colt gets called to Sydney and it’s a holiday break so he drags Ryland with him)
