Star Stable Entertainment and Ferly

Over on the production side, Swedish game creator Star Stable Entertainment and Helsinki-based prodco Ferly are teaming up to develop and produce two animated series inspired by Star Stable’s popular online game. To start, the companies are creating a 10 x five-minute series that will be released on YouTube in fall 2020.

So I’ve been playing this game roughly since it came out, and I’ve definitely encountered a lot of different people in that time and thought I’d share some of the most memorable ones that I’ve stumbled upon during my adventures.

The Dressage - You know who you are, and I’ll never understand you. You baffle me. I happened across a group of you the other day (and today watched another group of you just run back and forth in the riding arena) and I can only imagine the screaming going on in your prestigious club chat.

The Old One - Hey remember when we had necks? Remember when you unlocked Golden at level 10 and it was like the most exciting thing ever? Or when they released other horses besides your starter for the first time and everyone loved it? The hype for the first ever Friesians? Because I do, and it was glorious. Also when Ydris was old and creepy and like an ex lover of Pi? No complaints there though, current Ydris is the best Ydris.

Walk Walk Fashion Baby - Coordinated outfits and tack, for everything. I also don’t understand you, because that seems like way too much effort, though I can’t really talk since my inventory is 80% filled by clothes items I like too much to put back into my stable inventory thinking I’ll wear them and yet never do.

The Theorists - What’s behind Icengate? The Ashlands? What are the fridge doors? Why can you hear people and dogs inside? The fridge doors man, the FRIDGE DOORS?

I’ve seen some negative stuff here about how SSO is “losing” its style or something similar. I’ve grown up around learning game design, color theory, and the meaning of style. I’ve taught myself and learned from others to properly place together why SSO is gaining style. Since most people who do these “SSO is losing style” posts aren’t really artists themselves, I thought I’d come in from the other side of things.

I’m in a star-stable-y mood, so I’ve been wandering around the map. I haven’t played much, aside from jumping in on Wednesdays to stay caught up with the main story quests, but I’m itching to get back into this lovely little world. (not that I have the time to do it, but in this house we procrastinate important things to make room for the things that distract us from The Sadness ®)

If anybody has any info they think I might have a missed out on, and should know, I would appreciate the tip.

Honestly, I’m kind of worried that I missed some sort of mass exodus, and that no one I know is even around anymore. Hopefully I’m wrong about that.
