The moment you walked through the apartment door, Johnny looked up from the couch. His usual grin faded almost instantly.

"...Yeah, that was a rough day, wasn't it?"

You forced a smile. "I'm fine." He raised an eyebrow.

"Babe. That was the worst lie you've told all week."

Before you could protest, he stood up and gently took your bag from your shoulder.

"Nope. You're officially off duty." You sighed, the exhaustion finally catching up to you.

Johnny guided you to the couch, wrapped a blanket around your shoulders, and disappeared into the kitchen. A minute later he returned with your favorite drink and a bowl of snacks.

"There."

"What?" You blinked at him.

"I'm fixing the problem."

"The problem isn't snacks."

"No," he admitted with a small smile. "But they help." That earned the tiniest laugh from you.

"There it is!" Johnny pointed dramatically. "I knew I could still get one." Your smile quickly faded as the weight of the day settled back onto your shoulders.

"I'm just... tired." Without another joke, Johnny sat beside you and pulled you into his arms.

"You don't have to pretend you're okay around me."

The words broke whatever composure you had left. You buried your face against his chest as tears slipped free. He simply held you, rubbing slow circles across your back.

"I'm sorry today sucked," he murmured. "People can be awful."

"I feel like I wasn't good enough..."

"Listen to me." Johnny gently tilted your chin upward. His voice was calm—serious in a way few people ever saw.

"You are enough. One bad day doesn't change who you are. It doesn't erase everything you've accomplished, and it sure as hell doesn't change how much I love you."

"I just wanted someone to tell me that." You closed your eyes.

"So I'll keep telling you." He kissed your forehead." As many times as you need."

The rest of the evening was spent curled together under the blanket, watching terrible action movies while Johnny made increasingly ridiculous commentary just to hear you laugh again.

Kenshi knew something was wrong before you said a single word. Your footsteps were slower and breathing was uneven. Even the silence around you felt heavier than usual.

"Come here." He turned his head toward you. You walked over quietly. Without hesitation, he reached for your hands, gently squeezing them.

"You've been carrying too much today."

"How did you know?" Your eyes widened.

"I know you." That simple answer nearly brought you to tears. You sat beside him, shoulders slumped.

"It was just... one thing after another." He listened without interrupting. You talked about every frustration, every disappointment, every cruel comment that had built up throughout the day.

Not once did he rush you or he try to solve everything immediately. When you finally fell silent, he spoke softly.

"Thank you for trusting me with this."

"I feel weak." You looked down. Kenshi shook his head.

"No." His hand found yours again. "You are exhausted." There was a long pause.

"Those are not the same thing." A tear rolled down your cheek. He gently brushed it away with his thumb.

"I know." His voice remained steady. "And I'm proud of you for continuing to try." You leaned into him, resting your head against his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around you, holding you securely.
