Turns out that Marazhai's voice actor's( @willvoiceit ) streams have a redeem feature where you can get him to read shitposts. Anyway my cousin showed me a clip and I had to animate it.
"What I think when I write the character is not the same thing as what the player thinks when they are playing the game. And what the player thinks when they are playing the game is just as valid. Once I have written the game and it goes out into the world, my opinion does not matter much anymore. It is very much, if people feel they are able to have a healthy relationship with Astarion if he ascends I am fine with thart. That is okay. Everyone can, they can have their own ideas and their own takes on the game, their own interpretation." - Stephen Rooney
So if y'all don't mind, you know, not telling people how to interpret things, that'd be great. But I know for some that's just too much to ask.
Good news, he was not next! In fact, she accepted him as her mate, he learned the crane mating dance and now every year, he artificially inseminates her with crane semen to expand the very endangered crane population. True story.
Sorry, he WHAT? Imagine being this man's boss and having to sit him down like. Listen. Brian. We need you to fuck the bird. You have to act like you're excited about it.
(WalWaPo makes you jump through like three separate hoops before you can read the article, so I will share some of the highlights:
Walnut was born in a species-recovery breeding program in the 1980′s. The program had crane chicks hand-raised by human volunteers, and at that time they did not fully understand the measures necessary make sure that the chicks do not imprint on humans and retain their identity as cranes.
As a result, her keepers believe, Walnut does not recognize other cranes as members of her own species.
It has not been proven that Walnut killed her previous suitors; however, there is a persistent rumor in the white-naped-crane-conservation community that she did.
Because this species is highly endangered, and the gene pool of the captive population is small, it’s pretty important for the survival of her species that Walnut A) mate, and B) not kill a bunch of other cranes.
The actual name of the keeper is Chris Crowe.
They both arrived at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in 2004.
Walnut immediately began paying special attention to Chris--and ignoring the eligible male crane in a nearby enclosure.
Walnut initiated their courtship, performing the opening moves of a mating dance.
Chris realized that if he reciprocated the mating dance, it might be possible to artificially inseminate Walnut with her participation and consent. (The process normally involves restraining the bird.)
It worked!
Chris and Walnut have had five children, who were raised by other crane couples at the facility--sometimes the biological dad and his mate--both because it’s unclear whether Walnut would accept the chicks as her own, and because Chris is not equipped to be a Crane Dad.
However, the Institute provides her with artificial eggs to sit on, and Chris takes his turn looking after them. (This would not work with real eggs because he can’t sit on them properly, but Walnut seems to feel that he is on the job if he just stands over them.)
Chris accepts that he is pretty much married to this bird. White-naped cranes live to be about 60, and they mate for life, so he knows he can’t retire while Walnut is alive. (At the time of the article, Walnut was 36, and Chris 42.)
she has not been PROVEN to have killed her exes, but there is a PERSISTENT RUMOR (really officers she's simply DEVASTATED, she sobs, wearing a new feather boa unfortunately resembling her most recent deceased husband)
His name is Chris CROWE. (Mrs. Walnut Crane-Crowe?)
the mental images of a whole human man learning and performing the crane mating dance, and "sitting" on artificial eggs so she thinks he's performing his duties as a husband and father (and apparently OBJECTS if he does not?)
"chris, buddy, you gotta marry the possibly-murderous crane lady for the GOOD OF THE SPECIES." (alternately: "chris, my man! good news! we found you a very interested lady! She's 36, she's very spirited and independent, she holds a very important and rare status in her society! ...Is there a downside? WELL...")
chris sits any potential human partners down, like "my love, you must understand before we wed,,, i am already... Attached" (camera drifts wistfully to the above photo) "Lady Walnut and I have an,, Understanding... the relationship is open, but very committed"
Not only is he 'married' to walnut, this has apparently happened SEVERAL times, so he has MULTIPLE crane wives, none of which know about any of his other crane wives. This man is, for some unknown reason, irresistible to cranes
the “this content has been removed for violating Tumblr’s Community Guidelines” notice really adds a lot of flavor to this post and somehow makes it MORE obscene than whatever that actually was
I regret being the bearer of bad news, but I thought it should be shared that Walnut passed away in January of this year (2024). There's a lot of mixed info about the lifespan of cranes (due to people misunderstanding what a median is...) but the average for most species I know of is 20-30 years (in the wild if nothing eats them/they don't die young), and 30-45 in captivity, with the oldest known white-naped crane having loved to be 46. Given that she was 42, this old gal did good, and I'm certain she will be missed by folks here.

i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!

WARNING - The attached images contain mature language referring to the content of explicit fanfic. 18+ only.
So I had a message on Discord the other day from a stranger. To me, this could be anything from someone contacting me about an event I'm running or a genuine person who found my contact details listed on AO3 or my Carrd site.
But it sounded exactly like a spam/scam bot, so I'm going to share the conversation here with you all both for amusement and as a good list of warning signs to look out for when receiving messages like these!
All images contain Alt Text for those who cannot read from the image.
Also please note, that is just the display name of the user not their Discord username. Please do not attempt to contact anyone with that username.
The red flags: the opening is very generic and then they didn't mention which work they read. Personally if I was contacting someone about a fic I loved so much I wanted to talk directly, I'd mention it right away.
Next, the question is very generic. The piece they're referring to is part of a series, and it's very very easy to see the series started a couple of years ago.
More below the cut! And it gets spicy as I decided to humour the scammer and see how far it would go, because that work is about 75% explicit sex.
So here you can see I'm keeping my responses incredibly dry, because I can tell this is bullshit and I'm just waiting for the line to drop. You know the one - "I want to draw something from your fic" - and I'm just itching to bring up the actual contents of the fic because only the first few thousand words are SFW.
Bless the scammer they really think they have me on the hook with continued messages, but I'm not having it. Notice how they ignored me asking to see these supposed messages and reviews on my works.
Then that actual part where they talk about it? That's a two sentence summary that's included in the first part of the fic, very typical of an AI generated response. Essentially, they fed the text to the bot and told it to give them details about it.
Now here I realise I have them close to where I want to pull out the actual details of the fic, but because it's explicit, I checked their supposed age first. If they were under 18 that would be an immediate halt - "my works are not appropriate for your age group and it is not appropriate for us to discuss them, I'm blocking you now please do not contact authors of mature or explicit rated works in the future"
But they kept going, thinking they were forming a genuine bond here.
Here's what we've been waiting for, of course they're an "artist"
I actually ended up leaving this on read for 12 hours, I wanted to write and I was curious if they'd just push it further on their own or not.
So here we go, here's the art. I reverse image searched and they came up with nothing so if they're stolen I can't find the source, if they're genuine then this "artist" doesn't have any online portfolio or social media presence which is very unusual for an artist.
Also notice the red flag that the signature does not match the username they're contacting me with.
I don't know if these are AI generated, genuine, stolen, or something else, but the messages remain suspicious.
And anyone waiting for the bingo? There it is - "I have an idea about your story for illustration"
This is the typical line, doesn't specify the scene, doesn't give any other details, and this is what the scammer will generally use to start "work" on the piece then demand payment from the writer. Or they'll guilt trip the writer with a sob story about how they're desperate for money for a pet/illness/family member/education/etc etc. They prey on kindness and people who struggle to say no in the face of pressure.
And this, friends, is where I pull out what I've been waiting for all along.
This would not be a surprise to anyone who read the fic or even just read the tags to be honest. It's all right there. I'm also not lying, I'm proud of those scenes.
Again, not exaggerating, and hilarious that they're taking the bait and asking for more details on the scene after sounding horrified about the graphic sexual content. So we can assume that many of these replies are also from AI of some kind.
So these "ideas" are very clearly AI based, because the sky isn't dark, Raphael isn't just "disguised" he's completely changed his face, body, and outfit so it would be pointless to try and show him in that scene. The balcony is also in the Boudoir, and they don't stand out there brooding looking lonely either.
So I brought it back around to push it again, but of course if anyone wants to draw a piece inspired by my works genuinely they're more than welcome to do so.
The finale gets a little anticlimactic but I was bored of dealing with an obvious scammer so we are rounding it out now:
So there you have it, after sending the last message I hit that block button and went back to doing useful things with my time, but maybe I put them off trying with other explicit writers, took up time they could've spent on people who may have fallen for it, and hopefully this can serve as a good example of what scammers look like when they contact you out of the blue.
They've tried this shit on AO3 itself, on Discord, and on Tumblr too.
Be aware of the red flags, and if someone is being really vague on the details that's a huge red flag.
I made this a few weeks ago. It's a ship chart that's designed to be For Me, meaning that there's an ability to capture whether a ship is toxic and how they're having sex, and it's written to be compatible with characters from secondary-world media.
hopefully the last post i have to make on this for a while
in my intro post, i've linked the previous posts about my car breaking down after my husband's was totalled. we got my car into the shop and there was a lot going on between the body damage and the timing chain and its domino effects. our shit luck cost us all the progress we've made over the past few years.
so, with that said...
we had to take out a loan to pay for the repairs. hubs has been working 12 hour overnights to pay it off. here are some snippets from the bills.
one is parts & mechanical work, the other is body repairs from hitting the deer. we've taken a chunk out of it, but with me unable to find work, paying off the loan has been slow going, and i still have surgery debt and student loans to worry about as well.
rather than blow anybody's feed up with links left and right, i'll refer you to my original post where my paypal is linked and the full backstory is visible, here. The shop had my car for over a month, so we were stuck driving around in MIL's truck which cost more than double in gas for that duration, meaning we couldn't save up much at all to prepare for the bill.
infuriatingly, even after all this, I still need to bring it back in for a recalled part, a new AC compressor and a (small) hole in the undercarriage. So that's a minimum of another thousand dollars we have to come up with.
with all that said, if anyone can at least boost this, it would mean a lot to me. i'm not fond of asking for help, but it became a necessity to pay off these bills. anything at all is acceptable and helpful.
if you're still here, thanks for taking the time to read. <3

I posted this in the replies to an artist's post, but I figured that I would repost it here:
Do remember, AI (a computer) cannot create the way that a human artist can. AI operates on an algorithm that arranges pixels based on statistical probability. An algorithm cannot create something new; it can only attempt to imitate human creative outputs, but when it imitates the creative outputs of a human, it is always a statistical average (often with "same face syndrome").
Many AI models contend with "model collapse" or "generative inbreeding" because they feed off numerous AI-generated spam posts that all have the "same face syndrome". As a human, you can create something new. A robot cannot. Human-made art is future-proof for numerous reasons, and one of those reasons is that AI-generated content cannot come close to creating something that is beautifully unprecedented. Psst. It can't.
(more under the cut)
An AI model cannot create the kind of art that you do. It can only copy reality, and its copies of reality always have an uncanny, standardizing effect. My point is that the ball is in your court. Gen-AI models will never be able to come close to talented human artists. Why? It cannot create. I remember a scene from Detroit: Become Human, where Carl tells Markus, "That is a perfect copy of reality," if he chooses to paint one of his art pieces.
I see DBH as a brilliant narrative macrocosm of the debate about AI, but the point is, even though Markus recreated a copy of Carl's art, he didn't create something new. Even when Carl asks him to paint something "new", Markus was drawing from statistical averages of art created by humans.
(my new additions here) Human imagination is endless; machines, on the other hand, degrade by constantly consuming their own data. It can only imitate an average of every single art piece already created by a human. Still, it does not understand the techniques used by the human artists whose art it cannibalized into generalized, uninteresting, and banal "art" (air quotes are used for sarcasm) because it cannot create art. It can attempt to imitate art, but truth be told, human artists are safe.
Why do I say that you have nothing to worry about? The truth is that human creativity is future-proof. A computer cannot generate something as soul-stirringly beautiful as the soundtrack for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33; it cannot create an art piece like Caravaggio; it cannot grasp the complexities of the human soul. It doesn't know what the golden-hour sun feels like; it cannot experience a cool winter breeze; it cannot smell fresh-baked bread; it cannot experience love, fear, and all the other emotions that make humanity complex and inform our creative outputs.
Those who choose to use Gen-AI will receive cannibalized, generatively inbred model-collapsed pale imitations of human-created output. They are not "winning" by cutting corners and not hiring human artists, because their products will ultimately lack the human touch that makes art, art. Those who cheaply cut corners to choose computer-generated "art" will save profits, but they will not get any spiritual fulfillment that comes from being a patron of the arts. I say to all of us artists, "Fear not. Our creativity is future-proof."
