Nate stormed into the house flinging the door open. He knew she was following him but he didn't care to be a gentlemen at this point and hold it for her. He ignored her pleading and headed to the bedroom they once shared and grabbed a suitcase from under the bed. Finally hearing enough he turned to her, "You love me? That's hilarious Luna. If you loved me so damn much why did you sleep with him? I've been in love with you since we were kids I've given you everything and you made me look like a fool in front of everyone we know. That's not love." Turning away he started pulling his clothes out of the closet and dresser and tossing them in the suitcase. He felt a twinge of annoyance thinking of all the damage he was doing to them by not folding them properly but he needed to get out of here.
"Love should mean not needing a second chance not for this. If you loved me this never would have happened." He finished packing his stuff and turned to her. Every instinct he had wanted to comfort her and it killed him that he couldn't. But she had done this to herself. To them. "I don't want to. That's not who I am and you know it. Love should be freely given not taken by force. Love is based on trust and I can't trust you anymore. I can't trust you ever again." He hated that he felt like the bad guy in this. He wasn't the bad guy. She had done this and yet he was the one dying. Would it have been easier if she had just let him go? Or maybe that would hurt even worse. "You should have thought about before you did what you did."
Gritting her teeth as her inevitable failure sunk in, Luna huffed. “I would’ve never given up on you! On us. If the roles were reversed, I would do anything to heal us.” She scoffed, getting in his face. “This is what marriage was going to be. Constantly working on ourselves and each other, melding every facet of our lives. You didn’t want to marry me, Nathaniel. You want a wife.” She rolled her eyes, desperation sour in her throat. “You didn’t want me. You want arm candy. You want a woman to possess as your own. You want the fairytale idea of your parents that you’ve built in your head. Well, I bet they have some secrets between themselves that they haven’t told you. They’re not perfect, Nate, and neither are you. So, don’t you fucking play the victim with me. I know you’re hurting and I get that I’m the reason why. But, if you’re going to end this, at least be honest with yourself. You’re just going to find a new version of me to make you feel like a man.”
