CONTACT SHEET 1:

I shot this with my DSLR in, Ealing Common. This shoot was to purely meet with the model and make sure she was comfortable with my ideas and her flexibility. I also asked her to bring a red item to see if it would stand out.

PRINT IDEA PILOT PROJECT:

Even though these are not not my final images. I hope to create something like this with 1 print for each character so, Red Riding Hood, Pennywise, Karen( Red Shoes).

MIMI HADDON - 2017 FEMALE GAZE

Like Cindy Sherman I got inspiration from Mimi Haddon as she takes models and creates characterisation in a theoretical way to fit the period. 

CINDY SHERMAN

Cindy Sherman is an American photographer who photographs self portraits of gender and identity. her most famous pieces are of her ‘Untitled Film Stills’ 1977-1980. They are black an white photographs where they feature the artist herself as the model in various costumes and poses to portray female stereotypes found in film television and advertising. 

SHOOT THREE EDITS

These are some of my favourite images from the location shoot. I was happy with i achieved as well as the movement of the Hood. I found location better for aesthetics also for the characterisation. 

CONTACT SHEET 3- LOCATION

This shoot was to experiment with location lighting and a battery powered kit set. These are some of my favourites 20/240

With this shoot I had the hood portray the character which also gave more identification. However with this shoot, I had help with the kit, the assistant did arrive until 2-3 ours late with delayed sun time for the shoot. We then had an hour to shoot with but within that 40 minutes was to set up and sync lighting. 

NASTASHA CARUNA:

this was a project called ‘Love Bomb’. This project was a response to a break-up and portrayed the two emotions of love and hate. She shows this through still life photographs by chemistry and psychotherapy. 

The project title off Love Bomb came from the pairing points and the ingredients in concoctions within bombs and potion (play on word)

CAIO BOREM;

This is a photographer I found on instagram, his feed is purely based with the idea that red is the focal point. Whether it is the majority of a small amount in the composition.

For my second shoot it was to experiment with studio lighting. But I wanted to created images where dance and red were still visible. I am happy with the shots that I took however they look like dance stills as there is no character Identification. 

However at this stage during my project I had order a hood to portray red riding hood, but it did not arrive in time for the shoot.

CHERLY BLOSSOM- 2017, RIVERDALE CHARACTER:

Cheryl Blossom is one of the main protagonists in the Netlflix series ‘Riverdale’. The Blossoms themselves all have red/ginger hair so its in their heritage to bring red into the family. 

Each character has their own colour scheme, with Cheryl hers is red. She portrays the red through determination, desire and power as well as passion. 

RED RIDING HOOD 2006

With Red Riding there have been a lot of adaptations and different connotations of the use of red. The original or close to the original is that the red was to serve the idea of menstruation, women hood or the hymen. 

WIZARD OF OZ-1939;

Alongside the ‘Red Shoes’, the symbolism could portray power. In the wizard of OZ Dorthy relies on the wizard to take her home. However, in the end its the shoes (three taps).
