hello there, Could i get some tips on writing a Healthy Romantic Relationship?
Yes! The best relationships are healthy relationships!
Pulling from my own experience, here are the things that are necessary for romantic relationships to be stable and healthy, unlike their toxic counterparts.
Both people have an equal amount of say and power in the relationship.Β
Whether itβs a straight, gay, lesbian, or any other kind of relationship, both people should have respect for their partner.
Respect for certain things should include but is not limited to:
- Family (As long as their family loves and supports them)
- Choices (As long as their choices are not harming them in any way)
- RESPECT FOR EVERYTHING!!!
Both people are free to be themselves
In a healthy relationship, nobody is telling their partner what to do or change the things about themselves that make them themselves.
People in a healthy relationship should not demand, tell, or pressure their partner to change:
- Their clothes/style/the way they dress
- The password to their devices so that they can both have access
- Their political beliefs
- Their religious beliefs
- Their relationships with their friends or family (As long as those relationships arenβt toxic, but even then they should only offer support and not force them to do anything)
- Their sexual preferences
Nobody should be possessive. Sure, itβs understandable if someoneβs partner is uncomfortable with them hanging out with their ex, but if theyβre truly in love, they wonβt ban it. They shouldnβt be texting their partner day in and day out, asking them what they are doing and getting mad when theyβre with someone they donβt like.
They shouldnβt force their partner to stay home from a party or a club or a gathering just so that they can spend more time with them, or ban their partner from seeing certain people.
They support each other and communicate clearly
During good times and bad, people in a healthy relationship should support each other, no matter what.
They should offer a shoulder to cry on or lend an ear to listen and stand up for one another in case of an injustice.
People in a relationship have each otherβs backs and trust one another, and they have to communicate properly in order to make sure that everyoneβs happy and there are no boundaries being crossed, especially if the relationship is a sexual one or a serious one where both of them are looking for marriage as an endgame.
