         and yet

           ` so black.

       ` mr. luc! you’ve brought goodies, and treats! ` 

            “Of course, my little Katya," he hummed softly, crouching down in order to adjust the bow in the child’s hair. "What would you like to play?”

                 ` Hide ' n ' seek! ` 

   finally    one of these little shits without a big daddy around. boy, those things were difficult to deal with. he’d rather avoid them completely, but it was difficult to do so. especially with all the splicers around. this was nothing but pure luck. he hadn’t expected to actually grab hold of a little sister. the second he saw the glint of yellow eyes, he lunged forward, grabbed a fistful of hair and yanked the squirming brat out of the vent. of course she started screaming for her precious daddy to come and save her. couldn’t have that. so he shoves his hand over her mouth, kneels down to her height. his actions had been nothing but rough and hostile, and yet    he dares to smile at her. an attempt to calm her down? he doesn’t care if she’s calm or not. he just needs her to shut up. 

              having a hole drilled in you by a big daddy didn’t sound like the idea of a good day.

   ` shh, shh, lassie. if you keep screamin’ like that, you’re gonna draw the attention of every single splicer around. without daddy around    that’ll be very, very bad, yeah? `he pulls his most soothing voice, but doesn’t loosen his grip on the brat. can’t afford to have her run off. he could deal with a handful of splicers, but he’d much rather not.

         ` i’m not a bad man, alright? you wanna be with your daddy?            he told me to come get you, ya understand? ` 

   albeit the words, the ferocious male's voice does naught    but bring her uneasiness. mama tenenbaum had warned the children of these    people -- the angels hidden in the shadows; awake, no masks, and constantly    hunting for go-go juice. whether it had been father protecting her, or another --    her calls appeared effortless; and her hope that someone would arise from the    waters -- a phantom, circling within the child's heart. but his grip on her flesh grows    tighter than before, and her squirms add to already present exhaustion. meanwhile,    lip is bitten 'til rosies spilled from discolored flesh, too. 

   what to do? where to go? if only her protector had been around to witness this    atrocity, and prevent the child from being abducted. but dreams and wishes were    fleeting fragments that the little sister could no longer latch onto. experiments, that is    what they were considered; a precious resource -- although she had not the slightest    clue what would engender, she would proceed in silence until the opportunity to run    had risen. 

                  down, down, down, down -- out from the hidey-hole.
