it’s not only about apps but what you can do with these apps in your classroom that matter more and this is where Apps in the Classroom series comes in handy. This is basically a collection of some interactive short guides available for download with iBooks on your Mac or iOS device. Apps in The Classroom series is created by Apple to help teachers better integrate iPad in their classroom. The series feature a number of key educational iPad apps together with lesson ideas and activities on how to use each of the featured apps. We have put together this poster embedding some of the guides we have reviewed in previous posts. The guides will provide you with a variety of lesson ideas on the following apps: : Explain Everything, SketchBook Express, Skitch, Puppet Pals HD, Stop Motion Studio, Hopscotch, Aurasma, and Scoodle, and Art Authority.

There are probably many of you out there who can use an iPad with ease. But there are also a fair few of you who, like one of our employees, may need that little extra help from friends and family, or even from our KikStart for iPad app.

Those who thought you knew everything you could about your iPad, did you know there are many hidden features on the device that you might not know about?

For example, I’ve been using Apple devices for years and only found out last year that if you double tap the shift key it gives you caps lock!

OK, so some of you may already know that but you’d be surprised just how many people didn’t know about it either!

With this in mind new iPad owner Karen has agreed to share some of the useful tips she has come across since she completed her KikStart training.

I’ve been seeing a few posts floating around studyblr lately recommending/reviewing apps to help aid education, and I thought I’d throw in my two cents! My school runs on iPads, the teachers each have an iPad and every student is given one at the beginning of high school, which means this will consist of the apps I’ve found really helpful! I apologise for the bad layout of this post, but my iPad is the only way I can access Tumblr right now!

PAGES is basically the Apple version of Microsoft Word. The app comes with a huge range of templates-with everything from brochures to cover letters to reports. This is the app I use the most for school related work, as its so easy to use

MYHOMEWORK. As I mentioned, my entire school have iPads, so we use this to keep in contact. Teachers can create classes which students join to automatically be updated on homework. As a student you can also add in homework, due dates, tests, etc. which means you don’t need to network with others to find this app useful!

POPPLET is a brainstorming app which allows you to create interactive mind maps to visualise your ideas. The app has its downfalls-eg no autocorrect or autocapitalisation- but overall I find it extremely useful when attempting to plan projects/essays or just trying to organise my thoughts

SCANNABLE is a recent discovery of mine-it allows you to take a photo of a piece of paper (handwritten or typed) which it automatically converts to a PDF and saves. You can access/organise your documents through another app (Evernote), making it super useful trying to organise notes!

WOLFRAM WORDS is extremely useful for those pesky English papers, allowing you to search for meanings, synonyms, antonyms, rhyming words, acronyms and more

NOTABILITY is an app I personally don’t use very often, but I have friends who love it. It allows you to take notes (by hand or typing), then annotate and play around with them to create what you want

KEYNOTE is amazing for PowerPoint presentations, it has a decent amount of templates, which are all hugely customisable to your need

PREZI is the iPad version of the computer program. Prezi allows you to create fun, unusual presentations which can be totally animated to make them interesting

DESMOS is a graphing calculator app which allows you to plot functions and create tables

FREEGRACALC is a super useful app, it can graph, function as a calculator, solve polynomials, and has a huge list of references which covers a lot of the areas I’ve personally studied

KHAN ACADEMY is another super useful reference app. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s basically a YouTube for math, hundreds of mathematicians and amateurs have created videos designed to help you form an understanding of concepts, and they’re all posted right here!

WOLFRAM ALPHA is not strictly a math related app, although that’s what I use it for. WA is likely one of the most useful education related apps on the market. It cover all areas-from math to English to science to music to art-with easy to find information categorised for your comfort. The app allows you to ask questions-which it promptly answers in an easy to understand way. No matter what you’re studying, I’d recommend checking this app out!

Apple has announced that iOS 9 users will require entering six-digit passcode to unlock their devices. The company says that extra two digits will make iPhones and iPads more secure.

Apple said that a hacker would have to try 1 million possible combinations to unlock the screen.

Increasing the minimum number of digits to six means that there will be 1 million possible.
