To be fully aware of that void in your chest, that abyss that stretches from one rib to the other in the place where things used to grow. Loving you, hating you - it cannot be compared to that emptiness, that lack of feeling that once you notice it can’t be ignored anymore. It won’t go away, even if you pretend it was never there to begin with. When I look at you now, I’m no longer sure that hate is the opposite of love. By now I think it’s indifference. Waking up one day and suddenly not caring anymore. To feel so empty that even trying to recall what was once there becomes an impossible task. To have that vacancy inside of you, but no idea how to fill it back up.”
