jennifer finch is one of my favorite people ever & i'm so so sorry shes gone.
I lost my mom last year due to an aggressive brain cancer 5 months after her diagnosis. She was paralyzed due to the removal of the tumor. It was horrible watching her deteriorate during that time, both physically and mentally. My heart goes out to Jennifer and all her loved ones. RIOT GRRL FOREVER 🤘🫶

3 YEARS IN SEATTLE!
Today marks 3 years since I moved to Seattle!
I left an abusive and exploitive situation, and needed a clean slate (blogged my crisis on here).
I moved with less than $3,000, one suitcase, and a freelance editing gig. I didn't know anyone.
The first six months were some of the most challenging of my life, but I am still here!
I have a stable job now, got involved in radio, made the front of the Seattle Times, started dance classes, and met so many wonderful people. I am happier and feel more like the self I'm supposed to be.
Please don't be afraid to move or start over. Choose you.

My dad's mother has been toxic for years. I've mostly been respectful, but I have kept my distance, especially recently, because she victim-blamed me, made me feel bad for my life choices, and is a Bible thumper.
Because I FINALLY expressed my discomfort with my parents, now my dad is pissed at me and doesn't get why I don't want much of a relationship with her. "She's talking about God and scripture, so I don't see the problem?"
Now he won't talk to me, nor my sister, who also voiced her concerns about my grandmother. Of course, grandmother was dramatic and made herself out to be the wronged party.
Mom would always complain about us not telling her things and coming to her, but...
My mom tried to talk to both of them and made things worse. My parents were already mad at each other because my other grandma and my mom tricked my youngest sister into moving out (buying her a plane ticket and not telling her it was one-way and she wouldn't be able to come back).
Now my parents are not on good terms, and when I checked on my mom, she said, "That's what I get for standing up for y'all."
