“Ended up in Nyx’s house. I gathered—this way,” Apollo said.
Percy hesitated. “You sure?”
“No,” Apollo admitted. “But we can either stay here and get eaten by Nyx, or keep moving. Personally, I prefer the latter.”
They moved.
The halls seemed to follow them, whispering. The darkness brushed against Apollo’s mind, testing his defenses. He caught glimpses again—but not of himself this time. He saw the sky above, the constellation only found in the early months of the year—
You could be here right now, the darkness whispered. With your students. You could be celebrating Christmas, New years, in the warmth—
He forced the image away, shuddering and instantly regretting it in an instant. Keep moving, imagine what I feel, the voice thought.
The consequences of my actions, Apollo bemoaned mockingly.
A sharp sting broke through his essence—and he bit back a yelp.
The further they walked, the heavier the air became. The mansion was alive, and it was watching them. Apollo could feel Nyx’s presence in every shifting wall “They stopped chasing us,” Annabeth muttered after a while.
Because she knows you’re here, the voice spoke—directly to Apollo.
I noticed he thought.
They pressed on until the corridor split into a chamber vast enough to hold a mountain. Stars hung in the air —not real stars, but fragments of light suspended in the black, each one flickering.
Apollo stopped. “Don’t open your eyes,” he warned again—even though they never stopped closing them. Well. Better safe than sorry.

that tale begins in ye olden days of 5th grade, where 10 year old me got really interested in writing when my teacher assigned us a creative writing assignment. mine was influenced by warrior cats and had magic powers from instruments. i had insane ideas LMAO
BUT. but. that wasn't technically fanfiction, it was me messing around with these cats (both housecat and wild cats btw) who were my OCs. I didn't try my hand at actual fanfic until about...hmm...Freshman year of high school, I believe?
my first fanfic was uh...not the best, looking back on it XD It's actually deleted off my Ao3 because I didn't want to continue it/keep looking at it XD
then I started writing Warrior Cats fanfics my Sophomore year. and it was a cheesy, wish-fulfillment time-travel au XD what's surprising about it though is that when I first had an actual conversation with Lolling, I showed it to her pretty quick. She was the first one I ever showed anything I wrote too, and I barely had any hesitation doing so.
Later that year, we started writing our AU fic, and I wrote some Star Wars fics. then...that following February...I reread The House of Hades, and wrote When the Heavens Collide.

After Cassandra was murdered, Apollo was the one who collected her body and took it back to the lands of Anatolia, burying her in her homeland. Over her grave is a bush of black sea holly, a plant that grows in modern-day Turkey and often symbolizes strength and admiration, as well as resilience, courage, and foresight. You can see why I picked that one :3

I like how it was because of the familial promise Luke made to Annabeth and Thalia that got him to snap out of it in TLO.
He's a good morally gray character. *points to aforementioned attempted child murder and also the attempted wipeout of a camp of teenagers/children* he's just not one I have thoughts about
He kickstarted the theme of systematic abuse that carries over into ToA so I must shake his hand for that
