Can you please give a brief introduction to Mick Schumacher? I started getting into F1 after Mick left and I don’t know where to get started in learning about Mick, though I am curious about why so many people are SO loyal to him (tho I did hear that he’s very kind).
Also, are you planning on getting into Indycar for Mick?

(also most of us are that insane level of loyal to him bc we're just massive micheal and corinna fans and mick is just v much his parents kid so thats where the undying loyalty comes from. also most of us are tifosi so we love a good doomed narrative)
SO, my darling mick junior schumacher as he is called bc corinna and michael used to live and are best friends w the doohans (of 5 time motogp championship fame) as so they named their kid after mick doohan, bc of this he also grew up around the doohans and specifically around jack doohan! he was born on march 22nd 1999, a march aries bc he is a schumacher so he has to be like that.
he's the youngest of the schumacher siblings w his older sister gina being 2 yrs older, mick used to join his dad a lot in the ferrari and merc garages which nico rosberg has horror stories about
basically he's been karting since he was a kid, he karted w tony kart just like his dad and seb did! n michael was around for a lot of those races so mick was really raised in and around formula 1 and karting from when he was a baby. when he was karting he used his moms last name 'betsch' and 'mick junior' instead of schumacher to make it a lil easier but yk, that only works a lil when ur dad is at ur karting tracks like this
he never won a karting championship but almost always ended in the top 5 w 2 top 3rd places and 1 2nd place under his belt he started to get attention
in 2014 he started racing italian f4 first w van amesfoort but then went to prema which is deeply linked to the ferrari academy n that's kinda where his own link w ferrari got going. he finished second in both his seasons in f4
then he went to f3 with prema and. Here's where his weird habit started of having problems with adjusting to cars. he finished his first season 12th w one third place in monza (he is is poetic like that) and in his second season he dominated the second part so much he went from 10th to winning the whole series w prema.
then he went to f2, where its basically the same story, he raced with prema for both seasons and he signed w the ferrari academy. here he had the same habit of one season being kinda dog shit w like one good race where he won the sprint race in hungary. and then in his second season in 2020 he won the whole thing w a VERY close and fun title battle against old teammate and good friend callum illott. (they were so cute together n m very exited to see them on the grid together again)
important about all of this is that he was driving w the ferrari academy and with prema, an italian team, he spoke italian, he knew all these guys so well and was really close w the team.
many old engineers and teammembers have talked abt mick and how he is in the garage and the ferrair guys have always compared him to micheal who was known to know everyones birthday and life and chat to everyone which mick was known to also do.
I've never seen an old engineer or anyone on the team in prema or other teams have a bad word to say about how mick acts, they always seemed to have loved him and when mick went to f1 he was known to still go down to the f2 paddock to chat w drivers and old personel.
and then formula 1 came! he got a seat at haas w nikita mazepin whos... aweful and... yea so the 2021 haas might genuinly be the worst car in the history of the sport, it never did anything, like. this is the haas in 2021
it was aweful it was godaweful. which doesnt help w micks tendency to have to adjust to cars. also nikita mazepin was not a fun guy and neither was gunther steiner who later was reported to yell at mick in driver briefings, through this all tho mick was still known to have an amazing relationship with his mechanics and engineers and got really close and became really good friends with some guys on the grid like esteban and seb!
and then 2022 came, it was a little better for mick but it was a new regulations and as we said he has problems ajusting to cars so he wasnt great but he was clearly getting more comfortable with the car. it also helped a lot that kevin magnussen came into the team instead of mazepin who seemed to take on the roll of mentor really well and they got along great, kevin was also better but not much then mick and at the end of the season mick was starting to beat kevin in quali which was cool, he even scored points which is crazy impressive in a haas atp n it was a fun year.
sadly enough gene haas and geunter steiner hated this kid but loved the money and sponsorships as mick brought in a whole bunch of them. there r a good few stories that just, kinda suck, stuff like I said before where mick got shouted at during driver meetings but also stuff where his seat just, wasnt fitting for races and it wasnt getting fixed to the point where evntually seb and corinna had to step in and be like ?????hello???fix the seat.
so yea it wasnt great and then mick intentionally got dropped late in the season after geunter kept holding off and saying he might have a seat which made it that mick was completely incapable of getting another seat in formula 1 because it was far to late.
after a while of speculation of what mick was gonna do, he left the ferrari academy which makes sense the ferrari seat that was once almost promised to him wasnt gonna come so there was no use in staying. then he signed w mercedes as a reserve w an eye on the 2024 season and the williams seat that would free up!
but... toto wolff is also a dick and even though he basically promised mick a seat he wasnt able to get him one, so, he left the team and signed w alpine WEC, which, I didnt really follow to much off but his stats seem. to say he did fine. he got a podium !! which is really cool n he seemed to have fun but didnt really connect w the car or style as much
and now hes with indycar!! in conclusion, he is kinda inconsistent the first season n it takes him a while to get used to stuff, hes introverted but always knows how to get close w the team and shows respect to them and their job!!
I think that part of his personality, being a nepo baby but not a dick, showing respect to people n being friends w guys like seb, lewis and esteban says a lot. he also always supported liberal 'movements' on the grid and does a lot of charity stuff. he seems like a genuinly kind n sweet guy who just wants to race and have a stable place to race at which he hasnt had in a while. he's also just overral really respected and loved by mechanics and engineers which says a lot to me!
anyway that my mick schumi primer, I love him hes a sweet n beloved kid who grew up around motorsport and is loved by many many people that knew his dad who always talk abt how much his personality reminds them on his dad
he's also just, silly n kinda dumb, when he's comfortable somewhere he kinda just says whatever and has fun w his team and is capable of showing so much joy and whimsy with small things and its v infectious, hes v much just a happy lil guy who wants to drive n have fun w what he does n its just really fun.
it’s crazy that he’s made consistently terrible decisions. and my view on the schumacher thing… mick isn’t the best driver, but he is a good driver. he won both f2 & f3 championships. he’s doing well in endurance racing. and he’s consistently been great at helping mercedes improve w his sim racing + the data he provides. ALSO not to fucking MENTION but it seemed like steiner had it out for mick when he was at haas. if he was at merc or ANYWHERE ELSE he would’ve been treated better. he deserves to set steiner on fire too the fuck!!
but then there’s JAMES VOWLES who is like yea he’s good - but he’s not special. AND WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU???
