I don’t like how you put these two photos together, as if to imply that the dumplings with the paw print have anything to do with this sweet, innocent angel who has never done anything wrong.
Maybe the dumpling just did that, we don't know.
[ID: Two images; the first shows several handmade dumplings, one of which has a clear paw print in it where it possibly has been stepped on. The second image shows a small orange cat sitting on the carpet, looking innocently up past the camera.]
daughter firmly blaming the father for inner courtyard conflict instead of other concubines... a surprisingly rare take

Galaxies are yurinating...
don't say it like that
continuing with my theory that qingshuan shows us how ye li is really feeling and ye li isn't just interacting with a hallucination, there's this contrast:
versus:
at first with the way her face crumples i thought it was her breaking down and crying before i realized that it's once again qingshuan who's exhibiting those emotions.
she most certainly is NOT fine.
The first jasmine has such a way of showing things, telling tales, it's visually pleasing, the plot is there, but it feels subtle.
Ye li plots and schemes, but she doesn't explain what she's doing, she doesn't shout it to practically anyone, she just does it.
The plot as well, when it's appropriate, a backstory is shown.
I'm not explaining it very well but it just feels grounded and subtle.
The revenge is there, but it's not bulldozer, it's a water drop, one by one, persisting, and slowly breaking its way through
I really like how it's going, how the directing is, hopefully it keeps at it.
I absolutely love how we aren’t given all the pieces upfront and in overt or obvious ways. I hope it keeps up the momentum too because it’s shaping up to be one of the better dramas I’ve watched in a while.
this scene kicked off one of the most charged sequences of the drama so far and it's gorgeous.
the more we see of qingshuan, the more i think that in addition to being an obvious sign of traumatic grief she acts as our glimpse into ye li's internal dialogue. the contrast between ye li's contained affect compared to qingshuan weeping, when just seconds before ye li was clearly very emotional about the blank page. qingshuan incongruously says she's not sad and tells ye li to not be afraid. i can't help but think that inside, ye li feels like a scared and lonely little girl.
i love that we get these glimpses into ye li's deeper psyche. we know she's messed up for reasons we can't stop speculating about, but have you thought about how re-traumatizing all of this is for her? basically manifesting her mother's ghost while she's haunted by so many more. of course she's afraid.
this image was beautiful also, the two of them facing each other but also standing so far apart; ye li holding an unlit lantern while qingshuan is spotlit by an almost otherworldly glow:
more visual stunningness when she walks out into the stormy night, just begging for a gifmaker's deft touch:
the ost was perfect, too!

I'm sitting with popcorn looking at this dude compensate for his total lack of screen presence as Xie Wu in POJ. They better not kill his character off or I'mma riot!!!
Prefacing this by saying I don’t need a novel adaptation to be faithful to the source material for me to absolutely love it. And oftentimes, dramas are made even better from their changes.
It’s been a long time since I read Golden Age Legitimate Fei, and I don’t think I even made it to the end. (It was sooooo repetitive for no good reason.) I recall there being a transmigration storyline, so I know that’s a large part of why The First Jasmine / Mo Li doesn’t feel familiar. The only thing that’s clicking in my memory is him finding her odd for basically running a fitness camp to stay in shape as a former super soldier in her modern life. I feel like she also ran a perfume or cosmetics shop that was franchised in other cities? Or her friend did and she made a formula they sold? And she went on some long military campaign by herself while he was stuck in the city because of political scheming. But he sent his silent secret soldiers to help her. I don’t remember the Lishan Academy being a thing. Am I confusing this with another novel? The tropes all start to run together after reading a lot of transmigration/reincarnation/revenge web novels lol
wow okay. so Ye Li fell down the cliff and later she tells that Master Zhu came down from the mountain and saved her and she collapsed but for a glimpse we see, that she saved herself and killed all these snakes, except one, which bit her and caused her blindness.
but the fact that she really believes that all of them are still alive and help her when she needs them but in reality she is the one who does all these things on her own is very sad.
i can totally see, once someone is telling her the truth she will get a mental breakdown. because half of her "reality" she thought she would live in, was/is a lie.
i love how they show us her world and yet at the same time give us watchers the truth, so we can understand in which mental state she is in.
ough i'm so soft for the way ye li just casually drapes herself across mo xiuyao - when she's drunk, when she's tired, when she's just kinda bored and wanting his attention. it's already a very sweet gesture but especially so given that these two scream touch starved, and with how violently they both treat their own bodies when stressed
