Welcome Week + First Week of Classes
Hello! The past couple of days have been so hectic! Move in day, awkward ice breakers, and seeing who will be in my classes. The last couple of days I’ve had to be social and go out of my comfort zone. As a whole its been good and everyone seems pretty nice. I love my RA and my peer mentor for my floor. My roommate and suite mates are good. Welcome week was filled with awkward conversations with people you hope you will click with to hang out with and have classes with. It’s weird being away from my parents and friends but it’s kinda cool to be close enough to where I can go home but far away from everything that I know. My major is really small and there aren't many of us but tonight most of my english class(which is pretty small) was full of Fashion majors. Staying in a dorm is so much different then staying at home. I have to share a space with 4 other girls and its weird because I've never had to do that. At home for a long time it was only me and now having to wait to shower or use the restroom is something that I don't think I’ll ever get use to. Everyone here seems to have a group of friends, it’s like everyone is close with the people they live with and then that’s it. It may be because class started today but hopefully I’m able to meet more people then just the ‘Hello!’ in the elevator or on the way to class. (Sep. 8)
Ok so I wanted to wait to write the rest of this post because I wanted to see how I would feel in a week. I still feel the same. I’m friends with my roommate and one of my suite mates. The other one doesn't talk or hang out with us much but she seems nice. I’ve met some really nice people in all of my classes. I think right now I like my English class more then my Retailing class but I know that I do not like my Marketing class at all. I think its just because I’m tired by the time it comes around. My schedule isn’t too hard and I haven't had to turn anything in yet. Tonight I have to turn in my rough draft into English but its not a grade, we are just editing it today. In my Retailing class we talked about how it can be a good thing to have a digital footprint for when it comes to getting jobs. I hope that some of the people that are in my class start their own blog so that I can read it and everything because I think that would be really cool to have a community of friends on here and people to collaborate with and not have to go to far to do it. On a different note, today I was thinking that I was going to start doing like personal style posts, something like an outfits of the week but the outfits would be more then likely from the month, the only thing is that I’ve been so busy with all the events on campus and trying to make sure that I stay social and not always in my room that I’ve just been wearing super comfortable and simple clothes. The good thing is that it’s already starting to get kinda cold here so I’ll hopefully be dressing a little bit better. I also what to do more collaborative fashion posts but we’ll see how that comes to be. So far I’ve gone to two events (I don't want to count one of them though because I was there for about 5 minutes then left, it was lame). I went to this event where all of the clubs offered on campus are together with booths and you can sign up for the clubs that you want to go to. It was cool I guess, I got two free t-shirts and a sample of a really good smoothie. My next post will hopefully be Friday and it’ll be about music that I’ve been loving(I hope). (Sep. 15)
So as my second week of classes comes to an end I can say that I think I like it here. I wasn’t able to make it to any of my club meetings this week because I was so tired after English and they were actually at the same time. When I do go to a meeting I will tell you how I liked it. (Sep. 17)Â
