Being a trans woman means you arent allowed access to womanhood or the supposed good/positive masculinity often claimed by trans masc folks. This idealized and positive masculinity is one that is supposedly above all negative traits of masculinity and the patriarchy in society that influences it. Trans fems are conversely allowed only access to the negative aspects of masculinity as inherited from patriarchy. We are referred to as being male socialized whenever we do something negative. We are overshadowed in discussions about womanhood and our claims to it are seen as dubious at worst and partial at best. Trans fems are allowed neither womanhood or the idealized manhood that trans mascs are. Instead we are seen as men in disguise waiting to enact our underlying patriarchal socialization. While trans mascs are seen as forging a new masculinity/manhood. One that is both divorced from the patriarchal expressions of masculinity in our society and one that is inherently linked to an experience of "womanhood" and its associated oppressions.

i don't think there’s any such thing as a good or healthy masculinity to inherit, and it gen fucks with me when people act like there is. like, transfems and women are constantly painted as tainted and forever broken by our supposed "male socialization" and "inherent" masculinity but then you look at how transmascs and trans men are treated, and somehow their masculinity is framed as this pure, soft, enlightened thing? as if they've tapped into some secret non-patriarchal version of manhood that the rest of us are just too stupid or too corrupted to access? that somehow as women we are bastions of toxic masculinity and not the men? it's so obviously hypocritical and it makes my blood boil. the patriarchy hasn't changed. it's the same oppressive, violent system it's always been, and masculinity is its engine. you cannot separate "healthy" masculinity from the structure that benefits from it, because the structure hasn't been dismantled. this idea that transmascs are somehow exempt, that they get to opt into the "good" parts is something that needs to be done away with and parroted less. accepting masculinity, embracing it, calling it healthy is putting on the uniform and pretending you're not part of the force that's still crushing everyone else beneath its boot. there is no good masculinity. there is only the system, and you either fight it or you become it.

To be entirely honest I find the idea that queer people need spirituality at all quite insulting, and the unfortunately widespread insistence that there's some metaphysical spiritual element to queerness is rather counterproductive and (to put it bluntly) really fucking annoying.
