I’m too deep into Ruby Rose maxxing because I do love bumbleby but I feel a bit like Ruby (younger sister seeing her sister be affectionate with her gf)
Whenever I see them be affectionate on screen I get a bit like “ehhhhh I’m not supposed to see this….”
Let me say this, while I absolutely don't think the Bees kissing in front of her was the final straw for Ruby's mental state, I also think it definitely didn't help

Thinking about how Blake saw her younger self in Ruby because of her purity and positivity, she told Ruby that she admired her in volume 8 because of it, then in volume 9 during Ruby’s breakdown Blake tries to lighten the mood by sort of mimicking what Ruby would say in that situation, and Ruby just tells her to shut up
The "Blake follows Ruby because she sees a version of herself not disillusioned by tragedy" concept will forever have me in a firm chokehold. Even in volume 7, when in Atlas, a land that Blake should be thinking "why am I here" she quickly leans in to tell Ruby that she'll (they'll) follow her lead. She noticed something was off in volume 9, but she went about helping in the wrong way. Blake froze not because Ruby reminded her of Adam with her anger in that moment but because she remembered the words she said to her parents, the anger she felt when she left.
Blake follows her because she believes in Ruby's unwavering and unflinching optimism in the face of adversity, no matter how much Blake wants to think she isn't, that the world has broken her, she is an idealist at heart and Ruby embodies that ideal
What I found funny about the supergirl movie is that superman 2025 with clark's parents message sets up kryptonians as like, this egotistical narcissistic race of people with a raging superiority complex. And then you watch supergirl and nope. Jor-el was just Like That. The rest of them are normal he's a freak there too

Ok I watched it, it was fine, nowhere near as good as Superman unfortunately. Not what I want to focus on. Theres a line in this movie that led me and my friends to lose our minds analyzing on the way home. During the flashback sequence for Kara's parents, her mother looks at Clark's escape pod as it launches and says something close to "Thats Kal-El, the baby your brother has deemed a conqueror". She says it in a tone that indicates she thinks its ridiculous. Then, when Kara is being loaded into her escape pod her father tells her that "You will have great power, and you must use it to protect those who cannot protect themselves ".
This has led me to believe that Krypton in this world wasn't a monoculture of conquerors, and instead Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van are just fucking crazy. They're space MAGA. Everyone else thinks their plan to send a baby to conquer a planet is just as crazy as we do. We were crying laughing on the way home because of this. Its literally that one post from last year about "Your parents were just weird dude". Jor-El was Kara's wierd racist uncle who rambles about Kryptonian supremacy. Its so fucking funny.
I remember right after the Superman movie come out everyone was making the “Clark saved Lex’s life by saving Krypto before Kara ever found out” jokes and its absolutely fantastic to me how supergirl 100% confirmed that to be true. Lex doesn’t even KNOW how lucky he is that he got the emotionally stable super
I’m not saying that disliking Supergirl (2026) means being misogynistic. I’m just saying that of fucking course the film about a woman who loses her shit, becomes a hero because her dog is dying, and ends up saving dozens of women and girls who were bought to be (child) brides is heavily criticized.
love that the supergirl movie confirms that kryptonians aren’t weird ubermensch fascists and clark’s parents were just weird. Like they were just Scientologists or something

Of course they don’t like Milly Alcock’s Supergirl. She’s a grown ass woman with zero love interests who spends the movie saving her dog, casually dismantling a sex trafficking ring while she’s at it, and preaching the importance of being good, not nice or smiley or cheerful but good. I for one adored the movie and I really hope I’ll get to see more of Alcock’s Supergirl she’s now my favorite iteration of her and I love her so dearly.
How will the haters explain the news of V10 I wonder...They were so quick to say "Bmblb/woke killed the show" while the ship + Blake & Yang are so popular it's still attracting interest from Youtubers/queer communities/regular folks who appreciate nuanced characters & slowly built romances
I don't think Blake/Yang/Sun as a polycule would work out in the long run, but not for lack of trying on anyone's part.
The way the writers and Barbara (Yang's voice actor) talk about Yang's relationship with her own queerness make it pretty clear that Yang is a lesbian who's had to untangle and work through a lot of comphet to figure out her attraction to Blake.
I just do not see a scenario where Blake is like "hey can I bring a man into this relationship" to her girlfriend that *just* discovered she was a lesbian soecifically through her attraction to her and the polycule progresses smoothly from there, no matter how Chill of a Guy Sun is or how much Yang would desperately try to make herself okay with it. And god she would absolutely try to make herself okay with it because she just doesn't want to lose Blake.
And honestly I know the fandom perception of Sun is that he's a Pure of Heart Dumb of Ass himbo manchild (which admittedly is not helped by his RWBY Chibi characterization) but like, especially if this is the canon, post-chsracter development Sun from the Menagerie arc, he's actually surprisingly emotionally intelligent and perceptive. He'd probably pick up on the fact Yang is actually Deeply Uncomfortable with his presence in the relationship, even if he doesn't know exactly Why. To the point where I can see him voluntarily trying to leave. Then Blake would feel like she was being forced to choose between her two loves and it would be a miserable, unhealthy experience for literally everyone involved.
I think if Blake and Yang were to try out a polyamorous relationship it would probably only really work out if it was another woman.
Heavily agree, and I think what your saying is Ilia, it's your turn /j
I actually wrote more on how I feel and agree with this concept but putting under cut because long and if people don't want to see something that kinda knocks sunny bees, just avoid
One of the biggest traits of Sun, that functions in both good and bad ways, is his ability to go with the flow. He is incredibly chill and down to earth. If Blake had said herself she wasn't interested, Sun would've dropped it, because regardless of how he feels about her, his philosophy in general is to be chill. Part of why he didn't see the issue with his abandoning of his team while chasing Blake for doing the same is because he didn't think it would be that big a deal. He assumed others would understand his stance of "I do what I gotta do." Sun will only push if he can see any real gain from it. He forgave Ilia for stabbing him with a pinch. Despite acknowledging that Neptune's phobia is a hindrance at times, he never presses Neptune like others do. He doesn't fully understand Blake's motives behind faunus rights despite being one himself because he just lets bad stuff roll off his shoulders.
All this to say, he would probably choose to leave. And while I do agree that as interesting as Sunny Bees could be, it's just not practical for the story. However I would like to point out the fanfic/art potential of Sun being willing to voluntarily leave and how it could be seen as a foil or parallel to STR
I fully agree that Yang's development seems to be that of a woman who'd never considered women an option before realizing she never actually liked men as an option.
I also just don't think a polycule is necessary. Oftentimes people say stuff like "polyamory would fix them" but for these 3, there's no fixing to be done, regardless of who Blake ends up with. If Blacksun had been canon, I can see a world where Ilia was something of a foreshadow/foil to Yang's journey to accepting her queerness. There's no situation I can think of where either Yang or Sun would be jealous or resentful.
And finally, I just don't see a scenario where Blake tries to bring in a third. Like if you have poly headcanons, literally go so nuts, even I like bees schnees or sunny bees. But if we are speaking from a purely canon perspective and theory, Blake just doesn't seem like even if she was poly, that she'd bring it up. She is Yang's first relationship, and that is a big thing to ask. Any exploration of any poly feelings seems like it would come after Salem is defeated. Plus we know Blake is actually the jealous type, if we treat the DC animated specials as canon interpretations, not necessarily canon, but definitely what characters would do in circumstance.
okay it's one thing to be funnier than me on my own post, it's entirely different to be funnier than me on my own post when I'm a PROFESSIONAL FUNNYMAN. unacceptable, how dare you

i started noticing it years ago but i'm a little let down by how much in AAA games seems to rely on "tell don't show". Sims 4 takes you on magical multi-steps adventures through text boxes. No Man's Sky has your character go through all kinds of technomystical nonsense and it's just text boxes. Paradox games are riddled with events that are just text boxes but at least they've got a little flavor picture to go with it usually
