Willi Geiger (German, 1878–1971) was born on this day.

Willi Geiger attended the Munich Arts and Crafts School and later the Technical University, where he passed the state examination to teach drawing. He lived in Berlin until 1914 and then returned to Munich.

After the Nazis seized power, Geiger was dismissed from his post and from lecturing at the Leipzig Academy. His artworks were deemed "degenerate" by the authorities. He continued to paint, and after the war, taught again at the College of Fine Arts in Munich.

Willi Geiger's son, Rupprecht Geiger, also became a well-known artist and professor.
