Yeah, yeah, all the textile and fibre arts lead to each other, we all became trapped here long ago.
The danger zone is when they lead out of textile and fibre arts, into agriculture and woodworking and smithing and beyond.

Overlock Stitch by @clothes_reetzy
Damn, that's useful
Finally a hand sewing tutorial on a hemline that isn't just the ladder stitch! the ladder stitch disappears when you tighten it, but it's not meant for hemlines because it breaks really easily! The overlock stitch is more stable, so it holds much longer, and it won't pucker or warp the fabric!
I have something of a nasty habit of buying things I know I won't use because thrifting FOMO is massive. I thrift so often that I know what's common and what's rare, and if I see something really cool that I've never seen before I know my chances of ever seeing it again are nonexistent.
Anyway I haven't seriously made dice for about three years but last year I found a massive variety pack of sparkly fibers, likely to add to hair extensions, a bag of 17 colors for a total of $2.50. Glitter and resin additions were my guilty pleasure before I became a yarnbug, so I indulged my old habits and grabbed it.
BOY oh boy am I glad I did, because I'm having so much fun with it now! Unfortunately the lesson I learned is "your instinct to hoard things is correct"

I'm now officially a Master of Arts 🫡
hey nerds sorry i haven’t been posting i Am alive i am Extremely Busy. i moved my loom into my new apartment(!!) yesterday here is a photo of us in the elevator <3
i think censoring subtitles is actually ableism
mathematics is a sort of goo/ooze secreted by the human mind when it rubs against the universe
i think my worst knitting habit is maybe the way i store my Travel Projects™. no point protectors, no concern for the project, i just ball everything up & stab the needles through random places to hold it all together & keep my live stitches safe & it floats loose in my everyday shoulder bag & i absolutely risk poking myself with tiny steel spikes every time i go for my wallet.

Wally Dion, Green Star Quilt, 2019 circuit boards, brass wire, copper tube
yardage in progress. all silk city fibers Contessa, a discontinued blend of 25% silk 75% rayon. feels amazing, so fun to weave, can’t wait to wear it. 16epi ~12ppi, 14 or 15 epi would have given me a perfectly balanced cloth but i personally lean toward a denser warp.

hi !! please enjoy these pics of my kufiya (made IN Palestine !!!!! idk anyone else who weaves so I thought ud like ^^)
it's woven so finely and with such skilled technique (those gold threads are COMPLETELY covered on the back , I can't find even one to examine for a pic) , and despite being luxuriously light and airy (only like ?? a few grams ??) , the gold is very shiny and reflective and it brings such a warm sheen into my room . I'd love 2 hear what u think ab her as a weaver !
this is very Very beautiful thank you so much for thinking of me & sharing?????? 🥺 i have been staring at this in my inbox for a few days genuinely speechless but i am definitely going to Examine it more closely & see if i have any thoughts ab the construction bc Its So Cool thank you so so so much
working in higher ed is great someone just used the phrase “doomsday budget” in a meeting
idk if it makes it better or worse but we were all asked to propose a “minimum sustainable” budget as well as a “doomsday” budget. just in case. things are great
