Edit: For whatever reason this post never got published however it is just as poignant as it was 2 years ago as it is now as I take my first steps in attending university as a mature student to enter the games industry.Â
Resigning was both a terrifying and liberating thing. I was scared about my financial stability but equally I was so excited (and terrified) about what the future would hold for me. I was struggling with balancing between one type of work and another that required completely different ways of thinking and acting which in itself was exhausting and took time to acclimatize as I switched between the two. This and my realisation my job wasn't fulfilling my ambition led me to take the plunge. I now have the time to focus 150% on my career as a creative individual. It has been a huge risk and was not a decision I took lightly. At times it really tore me apart with the anxiety and stress of it all. I had to first make sure I had some savings to at least help me through a few months of bills before I did anything. I have no idea if this risk will eventually pay off or not, but I’m working my arse off to give myself the best chance so it will...Â
