We took my mother shopping at our local supermarket so she could grab some snacks she likes to take home with her. We always send her a Christmas care package with foods she can't get back home. Except this time, she was deliberately making it difficult. Saying she wanted to try new things to see if she'll like them. Asking me about everything she picked up. I had to tell her that I hadn't sampled everything in the store. "Are you sure?" she remarked slyly.

She continued to pick everything up until she spotted the bakery. Whoosh, she was off, "why don't you ever send me some of these?" She complained. "Probably because they are fresh cakes, by the time they would of been shipped they would be out of date" I tried to explain "you mean you would of eaten them before sending them to me".

Even when getting back and putting the goodies we bought in the kitchen, she yelled from across the room, "I don't remember your kitchen being so narrow"

By this point, she was just fueling my desire to gain weight out of spite. Maybe there's some aspect of wanting to be bigger born out of spite against her... who knows?
